The posted compensation range of $24.00 - $27.23 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Records Professional, you will ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient health information, meticulously managing records in compliance with all regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Every day you will accurately process, retrieve, and maintain patient medical records (electronic and paper). You will manage requests for Protected Health Information (PHI) ensuring strict HIPAA compliance, and play a key role in ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and proper indexing of health information within the EHR system.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, health information management principles, and comprehensive knowledge of HIPAA and privacy regulations. You will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with EHR systems.



    • Retrieval of all patient discharges from units including inpatient and ambulatory daily. Reconciliation of daily discharges.
    • Reconciliation of all daily discharged patients. Makes a new folder on each patient and prints face sheets for all patients. Places charts on shelves for assembly.
    • Assembly of inpatient/outpatient records. Productivity and quality standards.
    • Assembles inpatient/outpatient records by verifying correct patient information and utilizing appropriate chart order.
    • Inpatient 12-15 per hour and outpatients 20 per hour.
    • Assist in physician's incomplete room.
    • Retrieves 95 to 100% of incomplete charts for physicians to complete.
    • Pulls patient charts for surgery from incomplete room and delivers them to the surgery, labor & delivery, and endoscopy.
    • Answers telephone calls by identifying self and department all the time.
    • Answers within 3 rings. Exercises proper telephone etiquette at all times.
    • Files completed charts in basement.
    • Files all completed chart in basement in terminal digit order daily with 100% accuracy.
    • Files and/or scans all loose sheets.
    • Files and/or scans all loose sheets daily accurately.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate, General Studies, upon hire or
  • High School GED, General Studies, upon hire 
  • Clerical Skills


Preferred

  • Experience with numerical and alphabetical filing systems
