Responsibilities

We are looking for a nurse that can work in all 3 of our outpatient clinics and fill in when possible. Depending on growth this could become a part time position. The position is for Infusion but they will be required to help in our sleep clinic and our wound clinic when it opens.

Job Summary / Purpose

Infusion RN also includes oncology float RNs. Provides nursing care according to the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementing and evaluating.  Implements appropriate nursing care interventions.  Administers medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established nursing policies and procedures.  Care provided is based on defined standards of patient care and nursing evidence-based practice.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

    1. Assumes responsibility for acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for patient care in the oncology setting.
    2. Provides direct nursing care for specified patients, including appropriate supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluid and electrolyte replacements, and other oncology treatments as prescribed in compliance with current policies and procedures.
    3. Performs nursing assessments and triage of patient care needs for new and ongoing patients determining the need for standard, urgent or emergent interventions.  Utilizes oncology nurse driven protocols to manage cancer related side effects.  Evaluates progress towards attainment of desired patient outcomes.
    4. Implements and/or modifies plan of care using assessment data, standards of care and evidence based practice inclusive of nursing care coordination, appropriate patient and family education related to the disease and treatment.
    5. Facilitates interdisciplinary partnership in patient care.
    6. Integrates ethical provisions in nursing practice and delivers care in a manner that preserves and protects patient autonomy, dignity and rights.
    7. Demonstrates effective on-going observations and reassessment of patient/family and their response to the interventions and changes in condition.
    8. Documents assessments and interventions in accordance with hospital policy and standards of care.
    9. Utilizes resources appropriately and follows facility guidelines for documentation and charging of medical supplies and equipment. 
    10. Assigns or delegates tasks to designated support personnel based on needs and conditions of the patient, complexity of the task, predictability of the outcome and facility policy.
    11. Collaborates with new employees and peers to support orientation, training and development opportunities.  Supports the profession of nursing through support for nursing student clinical activities, as appropriate.
  • Maintains compliance with all hospital and department specific competencies and continuing education requirements.
  • Other duties assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  • Graduate of an accredited school or nursing

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • RN:KY
  • BLS-CPR
  • CCHEMOP within 3 months

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Must have critical thinking skills and ability to assess changes in patient condition and take appropriate action.  Adequate knowledge of current nursing practice and theory.  Demonstrate ability to perform technical skills according to area of assignment.
  • Reasoning Ability:  Must have ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.   Also, be able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deliver successful results.
  • Computer Skills: Demonstrated computer management skills.  Considerable knowledge of computer applications.  Proficiency with clinical documentation system in use at facility.
