The posted compensation range of $54.50 - $76.30/hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
The Vice President of Operations for CHI Health Physician Enterprise is responsible for the development and execution of the operational strategy to maximize the performance of assigned areas. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: communicating, directing, planning, organizing, financial/operational management & monitoring and integration operations to facilitate the delivery of high quality, cost effective healthcare services in an ever-changing environment. The Vice President, Operations will provide the leadership and direction for assigned areas. This position will partner with leaders throughout CHI Health System and Physician Enterprise to drive initiatives, programs and services to enable the organization to deliver on its mission, strategies and goals. As a member of the CHI Health Physician Enterprise senior leadership team, the Vice President, Operations will exhibit and promote the mission and values of CHI Health and CommonSpirit Health.
Responsibilities:
Partner with dyad/triad leaders to run clinic operations; build strong relationships with physicians, APPs, and staff.
Create and execute multi-horizon strategies and action plans aligned to value-based care and system priorities.
Integrate hospital and clinic services; advance inter-professional collaboration and value-based work-flows.
Launch non-traditional, consumer-centric services beyond conventional care settings.
Build and manage a comprehensive scorecard tracking strategic and operational metrics to ensure value delivery.
Own and oversee budgets; align financial plans with operational goals in partnership with key stakeholders.
Recruit, retain, and develop providers and staff through training, coaching, and ongoing education.
Optimize distribution of resources and services to meet strategic and operational needs across sites.
Drive growth via innovation, business development, and scalable opportunities across locations.
Lead accreditation, licensure, and regulatory compliance with service lines and physician enterprise leadership.
Partner across departments and stakeholders to craft clinic/campus strategies aligned with enterprise goals.
Advise at all levels and advance continuous improvement across engagement, quality & service, patient experience, growth & access, technology, standardization, stewardship, and academics.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Healthcare related field.
- Graduate degree in Business or Healthcare related field.
Experience:
- 7+ years progressive leadership in multi-site ambulatory/physician enterprise operations within an integrated health system, outpatient experience preferred.
- Direct oversight of employed physician/APP groups, clinic operations, access/throughput, and provider productivity.
- Proven success operating in a dyad/triad model with physician leaders; strong physician/APP relations and governance partnership.
- Demonstrated results improving access, quality, patient experience, growth/market share, and cost stewardship using an operating scorecard.
- Hands-on EHR expertise (Epic, Cerner, or similar): work-flow optimization, template design, scheduling/access tools, analytics dashboards, and adoption/change management.
- P&L ownership for ambulatory sites or service lines; budget development, labor/supply optimization, and capital planning tied to strategy.
- Experience integrating hospital- and clinic-based services.
- Led complex change initiatives (standardization, mergers/practice acquisitions, new site/service launches) in fast-paced environments.
- Fluency in value-based care operation.
- Accreditation, licensure, and regulatory readiness in ambulatory settings.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills; builds cross-functional alignment with Quality, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Digital/IT, and Revenue Cycle.
- Commitment to mission-driven care; reputation for integrity, accountability, and enterprise-first decision making. Willingness to travel across the region.
