The posted compensation range of $42.77 - $53.76 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
As a Stationary Engineer, you will be a central figure responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of our facility's critical mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring continuous functionality for all building occupants. You will play a vital role in maintaining a stable and comfortable environment while optimizing energy and system reliability.
Every day, you will expertly monitor, operate, and troubleshoot complex HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, and power generation systems, performing meticulous preventive maintenance and repairs. You will also maintain precise logs, respond promptly to alarms and emergencies, and collaborate with other facilities personnel to ensure all infrastructure operates at peak efficiency.
To be successful in this role, you will combine a valid Stationary Engineer license, extensive experience in operating and maintaining large-scale building systems, and a profound understanding of MEP principles. You will demonstrate exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to safety, and thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment dedicated to ensuring uninterrupted facility operations.
- Specific building maintenance duties: operate, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot and repair all hospital buildings and related equipment and systems, including but not limited to: -HVAC and Refrigeration, -mechanical and plumbing equipment and distribution systems, including hot/cold water, storm water, sanitary waste, steam, condensate, fire sprinkler, etc., electrical systems, including normal power, emergency power (generator, ATS, UST), -BAS (building automation system), including electric and pneumatic controls, -pneumatic tube system, -Elevators, -TV distribution, -Medical Gas equipment and distribution, -nurse call system, -low voltage systems, including communication systems, PA , access control, -patient beds, gurneys, -kitchen equipment, -Life Safety equipment and systems, -corrective and preventive work order system, general maintenance, including drywall repair, patch &paint, basic carpentry, key and lock, etc., -all related auxiliary equipment for systems listed above
- Specific Central Plant duties: Operate, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot and repair all central plant/assigned building spaces and related equipment/ systems including but not limited to: -pressure vessel and related auxiliary equipment, HVAC and Refrigeration, including chillers, cooling towers, -mechanical and plumbing equipment and distribution systems, including, hot/cold water (heat exchangers, water heaters, etc.), storm water, sanitary waste, steam, condensate, fire sprinkler, etc., -electrical systems including emergency generator and ATS and related auxiliary equipment, -Medical Gas equipment and distribution, including air compressors and vacuum pumps and related auxiliary equipment, -water softener and chemical treatment systems, -BAS (building automation system), including electric and pneumatic controls, -Life Safety equipment and systems (FA Alarm panel, etc.), -nurse call system, -corrective and preventive work order system, -hot and cold water systems and distribution, -UST, -pneumatic tube system, -all related auxiliary equipment for systems listed above
- Continuously monitor all pressure vessel operations, gauges, valves, and visible audible controls (per Title 8)
- Assist preparing the boiler for annual inspection, source testing, etc.
- Perform water treatment activities to ensure established chemical water balances are constantly maintained
- Complete all scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance tasks as assigned
Job Requirements

- High School Graduate
- Driver's License: CA, upon hire
Preferred
- Hospital experience
- Boiler Operator experience
