Responsibilities

Mercy San Juan Medical Center provides a full complement of complex Cardio Vascular services and performs over 200 open heart procedures a year. We are looking for an RN to provide scrubbing and circulating assistance in our open heart (cardio vascular) OR. The individual will be intimately involved with processes of the Open Heart suite, working with anesthesia services, cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, nurse practitioners and support services that are involved in the open heart program. 

The incumbent is a professional who provides and supervises care to individuals and families. Utilizing a holistic approach, the incumbent provides care based on the nursing process. As a professional, the incumbent is responsible for providing leadership and maintaining personal professional development. May have access to or be required to distribute drugs, needles or syringes from storage locations, (such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts) to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse in an operating room or cardiac surgery in an acute care setting.
  • Current California RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate from the American Heart Association
  • Other certifications may be required
  • Weekday, Weekend and Holiday rotations
  • Call required on nights & weekends with max 30 minute response time

Preferred:

  • Skills related to laboratory and x-ray order entry, and online documentation.
