The posted compensation range of $72.64 - $88.21 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

As our PACU Registered Nurse (RN), you will help patients recover safely from a wide range of surgical procedures from our inpatient and outpatient services, so they can return home or to an inpatient unit with optimal well-being and understanding of their post-operative care.
Every day you will manage the immediate post-operative care of patients from diverse surgical specialties, including general, bariatric, orthopedic, and pediatric services. You will be expected to monitor vital signs, administer medications, manage pain, identify and address complications, and provide comprehensive discharge education to both patients and families in a rapid-paced, high-acuity environment.
To be successful in this role you must possess strong critical thinking and assessment skills, exceptional communication and patient education abilities and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, level 2 trauma facility with 10 ORs.
- Assessment: performs patient assessment for, diagnosis of, intervention for, and evaluation of physical or psychosocial problems or risk for problems that may result from the administration of sedation/analgesia or anesthetic agents and techniques in the immediate post-anesthesia period.
- Care of Patient: Including planning, implementing, evaluation and patient and caregiver education based on PACU policies and procedures, MD and Anesthesia orders.
- Clinical/Technical Skills: Utilizes technology, procedures, ASPAN Standards and interventions specific to PACU
- Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system. Accurate documentation both in chart and electronic medical record.
- Leadership: Accepts responsibility and accountability for own decisions and behaviors. Recognizes, accepts and cooperates with direction from facility leadership. Takes charge as assigned by facility leaders in absence of Manager or Clinical Coordinator and collaborates with care team members to identify approaches for problem solving.
- Precepting/Mentoring: Participates in orientation of new staff, ancillary personnel and mentors students and team members in a constructive and positive manner. Serves as a resource to staff from other nursing departments.
Job Requirements
Required
- At least one (1) year experience as a PACU Registered Nurse in a post anesthesia care unit or in an ICU / ED setting
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification - American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification - American Heart Association
- Weekends and Call required
Preferred
- Skills related to laboratory and x-ray order entry and online documentation
