The posted compensation range of $35.62 - $52.99 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Supervisor Coord Blood Collection is responsible to manage a team dedicated to the provision and coordination of cord blood donation as part of the ABRC-funded AZ Cord Blood Collection Program. Coordinates daily operational activities for the cord blood program at SJHMC and provides team-building and mentorship to the cord blood team while continuing to foster inter-institutional relationships with other cord blood facilities to promote donations. Serves as a resource and provides training to staff at this institution and other ABRC-awarded institutions in program development and coordination. Supports program development within the community; advances patient awareness, integrates cord blood opportunity into daily physician and nurse clinical education programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates and participates in the Cord Blood Collection process at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center.
  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of dedicated cord blood collection staff at SJHMC.
  • Educates, mentors and builds an effective cord blood collection team and program meeting and/or exceeding grant deliverables.
  • Plans, develops and implements outreach programs and assists in training staff at other sites. This includes working closely with Save the Cord Foundation for outreach materials and public cord blood education.
  • Obtains patient health, illness and psychological history as appropriate for participation, inclusion/exclusion criteria.
  • Evaluates patients in the hospital as part of follow-up requirements for any related research protocols.
  • Participates in professional development activities to maintain skills and knowledge
  • Utilizes effective interpersonal, leadership and organization skills while emphasizing professionalism, ethical decision making, accountability and critical thinking.
  • Collaborates with other members of the health care team in the assessment and management of the program.
  • Coordinates resources with staff to facilitate participation internally and externally to Dignity Health.
  • Participates in health and community sponsored health fairs, conferences and programs.
  • Serves as a liaison between other institutions, the ABRC, and the cord blood processing/storage facility.
  • Develops educational materials for patients, families, staff physicians and community.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience upon hire and

Three Years obstetrics or similar clinical care experience required

Experience with program development and community relations/networking Preferred

Demonstrates an ability to continually improve performance and learn new ideas and techniques.

Skills in the area of critical thinking, interpersonal communication, conflict management, problem solving, autonomy and decision making are highly desirable.

Human subject protection training (ex. CITI training) preferred.
