EMS Supervisor
The posted compensation range of $22.89 - $33.20 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
The EMS Supervisor is responsible for the daily shift operations with regard to staffing issues and daily operational issues as they arise. They are also responsible for the delivery of patient care under the guidelines of the Tennessee Department of Public Health – EMS Board, the Georgia Department of Public Health – Office of EMS and Trauma, as well as the guidance of the department Medical Director. The EMS Supervisor will deliver care in the pre-hospital setting under the treatment protocols set forth and approved by the Director of EMS and the Medical Director.
1. The EMS Supervisor will have and perform all of the Essential Key Job Responsibilities of the Paramedic.
2. The EMS Supervisor incorporates knowledge of the Emergency Medical Services process and the professional standards of EMS into their daily practice.
3. The EMS Supervisor manages both clinical and non-clinical activities during work shift.
4. The EMS Supervisor will supervise all unit activities for the smooth operation in the absence of the Operations Manager and the Director.
5. The EMS supervise and review daily staffing and required paperwork as directed by the Operations Manager.
6. The EMS Supervisor collaborates with the needs of the EMS Dispatch Center as directed by the Operations Manager.
7. The EMS Supervisor will act in the Operational Sector of the Incident Command System when directed.
8. The EMS Supervisor will perform any other duties as requested by the EMS Operations Manager or the Director of EMS.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited school of Paramedic science.
The following EMS License(s) Tennessee Paramedic license Georgia Paramedic License Both of the following certifications: American Heart Association – BLS / Health Care Provider American Heart Association – ACLS The following license: Valid State Driver’s License (If TN license, the “F” endorsement is required)
Ambulance operations including on-board systems, emergency driving, scene management, radio communication General patient care treatments and knowledge of the equipment used in providing patient care in the pre-hospital setting ECG rhythm and 12 Lead interpretation skills Communication skills (both verbal and written) Basic Computer knowledge Good organizational and time management skills
Preferred:
The following educational level: Associates Degree in EMS or similar field of study or higher Any 1 of the following pediatric certifications (will be required within 6 months of hire): American Heart Association – PALS National Assoc. of EMTs – EPC American Academy of Pediatrics - PEPP Either of the following trauma certifications (will be required within 6 months of hire): American College of Emergency Physicians – ITLS National Association of EMTs – PHTLS Either of the following driving courses: Emergency Vehicle Operations Course - EVOC Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator - CEVO
