The posted compensation range of $52.02 - $77.38 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Summary / Purpose
Plans, administers and directs all activities related to food & clinical nutrition services, including financial accountability and compliance with standards established by CommonSpirit Health and regulatory agencies. Leads the Food and Clinical Nutrition Services departments for the assigned market. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments to provide a unified food and clinical services experience for patients, residents, visitors and employees. Has authority and responsibility for the daily management of the food and clinical nutrition services at assigned facilities, implementing training programs for the food and clinical nutrition staff, and assuring that established policies and procedures are maintained.
Es Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations.
- Responsible for overseeing management of all FNS and clinical nutrition services within the market. Plans, directs, coordinates and controls resources of the FNS Department to provide food service and clinical support for customers, employees and patients. Prepares the budget and assists in the development of short-term and long-term financial and operational plans for the department. Supports the transition of new region facilities, as applicable.
- Establishes and maintains regulatory compliance with FNS services, and policies and procedures to address safe practices for food handling, emergency food supplies, menu planning, purchasing and storage of food and supplies.
- Manages department human resources to ensure effective employee orientation, training and development, supervision of work, employee performance, wage/benefit administration and compliance with established labor regulations and hospital or CommonSpirit Health human resources policies and procedures.
- Monitors the performance of the department through assessment and analysis of customer/patient satisfaction systems, quality and nutritional assessments, inspections, and financial reports. Completes Quality Improvement (QI) assessment reports and corrective actions in collaboration with the hospital Quality department. Promptly addresses customer complaints, and conducts service recovery where possible. Conducts rounding with patients and staff. Maintains log of patient and staff feedback which is considered in continuous improvement.
- Participates in hospital committees as indicated by the department policies and procedures, or delegates to appropriate managers as needed.
- Advocate to expand and promote the role of Clinical Nutrition throughout each facility.
- Establishes goals and oversees implementation of clinical nutrition care based upon the facility's medical direction and patient population at CSH (CommonSpirit Health).
- Assesses, develops and revises a nutritional care plan of neonates/ infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients through documentation in the medical record.
- Evaluates and coordinates hospital nutrition formulary for CSH (CommonSpirit Health). Plans regular and modified menus based on the current diet manual for CSH (CommonSpirit Health).
- Drive performance improvement and quality management projects.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience | Minimum of three (3) years hospital, nutrition or foodservice management experience. Three (3) years acute hospital or similar experience working with patients including complex levels of care to specialized populations. Bachelor's Degree with completion of accredited dietetics program (ACEND - Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition Dietetics). |
Preferred Education and Experience | Prior management experience preferred (such as clinical nutrition management, foodservice management, etc.). |
