The posted compensation range of $38.72 - $65.21 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Diagnostic Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer, you will be a crucial specialist, providing advanced diagnostic imaging for pregnant patients, leveraging cutting-edge ultrasound technology to evaluate fetal health and maternal well-being. This highly specialized role involves analyzing fetal anatomy, maternal structures, and pregnancy-related conditions, directly contributing to critical medical decisions and compassionate patient care.

Every day you will perform a comprehensive range of MFM/OBGYN ultrasound examinations, including detailed fetal anatomy surveys, first-trimester screenings, Doppler studies, biophysical profiles, nuchal translucency measurements, and fetal echocardiograms, often for multiple gestations and high-risk pregnancies. You will obtain detailed patient histories, explain complex procedures with empathy, address concerns, and provide essential support, meticulously maintaining accurate patient records.

To be successful in this role, you will possess expertise in advanced diagnostic ultrasound techniques specific to Maternal Fetal Medicine, coupled with a deep understanding of fetal development and high-risk pregnancy conditions. Your ability to operate sophisticated equipment, interpret complex images accurately, and document findings thoroughly, alongside exceptional patient communication and emotional support, is paramount for both clinical excellence and an empathetic patient experience.

  • Performs complex ultrasound procedures to ensure quality patient care in accordance with MFM/OBGYN physician expectations and established protocols, including adapting techniques to optimize image quality and address challenging patient presentations.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the gestational age and medical complexity of the patients served, including those with high-risk pregnancies and fetal anomalies.
  • Maintains professional development and education for advanced technical competency in MFM/OBGYN ultrasound, including staying current with the latest advancements in fetal imaging and diagnostic techniques.
  • Mentors and guides fellow sonographers and students in MFM/OBGYN ultrasound techniques and interpretation, serving as a valuable resource.
  • Reviews patient charts to understand diagnoses and their implications for sonography requirements and findings.
  • Demonstrates complete working knowledge of ultrasound equipment within the MFM/OBGYN area, including troubleshooting technical issues and optimizing image quality.

Job Requirements

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

Required

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology, OR Graduate of AMA Accredited Sonography Program, OR Graduate of accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and/or equivalent clinical experience
  • Maintain RDMS, or RCES, or RCIS, or RDMSAB, or RTCT, or RTR, or RTVS, or RVS, or RCS, or RVT
  • Maintain BLS from American Heart Assocation
  • OBGYN sonography certification
  • Fetal Echocardiography certification preferred upon hire or must obtain within 18 months of employment
  • Proficiency in performing a wide range of OBGYN/MFM ultrasound examinations, including first trimester screening, fetal anatomy surveys, fetal echocardiograms, doppler studies, and biophysical profiles

Preferred

  • 1-year experience performing OB Gyn sonography scans preferred
