The posted compensation range of $40.95 - $60.91 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Respiratory Therapist Supervisor, you will lead our Respiratory Care technical staff, providing instruction and evaluation, while assisting the Director/Manager in department management. This role also includes direct patient care as needed.

Every day you will supervise, instruct, and evaluate Respiratory Care Practitioners. You'll assist the Director/Manager in overall department management and provide direct patient care. Daily contacts include subordinates, co-workers, patients, medical staff, and physicians.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong leadership, instructional, and evaluative skills, with advanced clinical expertise in respiratory care. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for staff supervision and interdisciplinary contact are essential.

  • Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Assigns day-to-day work activities. Directs the functional and technical job performance of team members.
  • Allocate and direct staffing needs to meet patient, unit, and departmental needs, and collaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.
  • Manage performance by: setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback and recognition, developing skills, and addressing performance issues related to work and CHI Health commitments using corrective action.
  • Assists in developing departmental action plans and makes recommendations to the Director for training and staff development. Monitors productivity to ensure appropriate utilization of staff. Maintains required records, reports, and statistics for regulatory and budgetary purposes.
  • Provides direct patient care while assessing the patient’s needs and response to therapy; and assists staff in performing the same. Provides timely and necessary communication to hospital staff and providers as appropriate to assist in provision of optimal patient care.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelors and minimum of 1 year experience in the discipline upon hire OR 3 years’ experience in the discipline OR Masters degree
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: IA license
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist upon hire
  • PALS or PALS instructor upon hire
  • NRP or NRP Instructor upon hire
  • ACLS or ACLS instructor upon hire
  • BLS or BLS instructor upon hire
