The posted compensation range of $77.80 - $104.19 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our RN Educator, you will help our Registered Nurses by designing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based educational programs, orientations, and continuing education so they can provide the best possible care for our patients and families.

Every day you will facilitate the professional growth, skill development, and competency of staff, ensuring these programs primarily support the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. You will be expected to contribute to ensuring quality, safety, and service in patient and family-centered care.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong instructional design capabilities, expert clinical knowledge, and the ability to effectively engage and develop healthcare professionals, ultimately enhancing the standards of patient care.

  • Clinical Expertise - Provides clinical expertise to the nursing units, programs, and/or facilities. Acts as role model for nursing staff in providing optimum patient care. Collaborates & communicates closely with medical staff, nursing administration leadership and nursing staff to identify needs, define, implement and evaluate nursing and patient care standards of practice throughout the health continuum. 
  • Education - Mentors staff in their professional growth. Utilizes instructional skills to provide learning experience based on patient problems and staff needs. Incorporates concepts of continuing education and adult principles of learning. Collaborates with other professional nurses and members of other healthcare disciplines to meet the identified learning needs of the target audience. Monitors results of education by documenting improvement in patient outcomes, QA issues, nursing satisfaction, etc. Provides/coordinates/consults for educational programs to meet hospital, state, national, and accreditation requirements.
  • Research - Demonstrates knowledge of current research. Evaluates and translates the results into clinical practice. Evaluates the effectiveness of clinical practice, programs and equipment. Utilizes appropriate methods of evaluation in the identification of criteria to monitor nursing care practices and documentation. Conducts and/or participates collaboratively in nursing/medical research. Analyzes and synthesizes data/observation/research to identify clinical patterns and trends. Develops plan of action based upon interpretation of data.
  • Consultation - Participates in community education, lectures to schools, institutions and professional groups/organizations. Participates with nurses, physicians & allied health care professionals in identifying patient needs, developing and implementing plans of care, including patient/family educational programs & counseling and evaluating effectiveness of nursing care. Demonstrates currency in specialty area by sharing information gained through research, seminars, networking and self-study. 
  • Leadership - Participates in new program and or project development. Works independently or directs small groups in meeting objectives within time frame allocated. Serves as resource to those developing programs, as appropriate. Provides input into performance appraisals & evaluations of nursing staff. Assists in the interviewing of job or program candidates and provides input on the employment of personnel as appropriate. Maintains effective working relationships with those who carry line authority by communicating clearly and by maintaining credibility through performance. 

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing 
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the State of California
  • 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience 
  • Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS-I) from the American Heart Association
