The posted compensation range of $19.62 - $29.69 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our OB Tech, you will assist in the smooth daily operations of the Labor & Delivery unit, performing direct and indirect patient care and supporting surgical procedures.

Every day you will assist with vaginal deliveries under RN and provider direction, function as a Scrub Tech for surgical procedures, maintain supplies and equipment, and assist with Point of Care Testing and High Level Disinfection equipment. You may also perform patient care duties such as vitals, hygiene, and basic care for antepartum, postpartum, and newborn patients, as well as clerical/business support tasks.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong clinical support skills in OB/GYN settings, meticulous attention to detail in patient care and equipment management, flexibility to perform varied tasks, and a commitment to our organizational mission and core values.

  • Functions as a Scrub Tech for surgical procedures, demonstrating appropriate skill to scrub a variety of cases.
  • Sets up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.
  • Performs appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed, and as needed.
  • Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures by checking package integrity, indicators, and opening procedures.
  • Prepares and sterilizes supplies and equipment used in procedures, and disposes of sharps/contaminated materials appropriately.
  • May provide patient care, including comfort and hygiene measures, safety measures, transport, nutritional and elimination needs, and wellbaby care, such as bathing infants, bottle feeding, transporting, cord care, and weighing of infants.

Schedule: 24hrs / week-  Nights- Variable Days of the week per volume and current unit needs. TBD during interviews with unit Manager. Call not required


Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Basic Life Support; Refer to CS Addendum and UT License and Certification Grid
  • Colorado Surgical Assistant License or Surgical Technician upon hire unless performing Surgical Assistant duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration (required for Colorado employed staff only)

Preferred

  • Completion of a Surgical Tech program
  • One (1) year patient care experience. i.e. OB Tech, LPN/LVN, EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant or Surgical Tech experience

Where You'll Work

In this role, you will provide comprehensive clinical and surgical support within a high-acuity labor and delivery unit, averaging 50–60 deliveries per month. Your responsibilities in this role will include; serving as a surgical scrub for emergent and scheduled C-sections, where you will maintain strict sterile fields and manage instrument tables. Beyond the OR, you will assist with vaginal deliveries, facilitate efficient room turnovers, and restock supplies across a facility that includes one OR suite, one triage room, 12 LDRP beds, four pediatric rooms, and a seven-bay Level II NICU. Your daily workflow also integrates essential patient care and administrative duties, including performing CNA-level tasks, assisting RNs with vitals, answering call lights, managing unit access, and utilizing EPIC to handle patient check-ins, rooming, chart preparation, and discharge processing.
