The posted compensation range of $25.55 - $38.00 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
The Environmental Services Supervisor provides day-to-day oversight of the Environmental Services (EVS) department under the guidance of the Director and/or Manager. This role ensures a consistently high standard of cleanliness, environmental hygiene, and overall aesthetics for patients, visitors, and staff. The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, managing departmental resources efficiently, and supporting financial stewardship within operations.
In collaboration with leadership and other management team members, the Supervisor supports daily departmental functions and contributes to organizational goals. This position focuses on training, developing, and engaging a high-performing EVS team using evidence-based practices, established processes, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to promote a safe, clean environment that supports quality patient care. The Supervisor provides direct leadership to staff, making sound operational and business decisions aligned with the hospital’s mission, vision, and values. They ensure the delivery of a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for patients, families, visitors, physicians, nurses, and all staff, while promoting excellence in service, safety, and overall patient experience.
- Supervises the necessary resources needed for Environmental Services department under their control and makes recommendations to hiring, promoting and annual staff performance reviews
- Performs quality improvement initiatives under direction of EVS Manager/Director. Conducts rounding activities to ensure environmental hygiene in all areas assigned. Prepares necessary reporting to manager(s) and document results
- Demonstrates working knowledge of the cleaning and disinfection principles and requirements, proper chemical, equipment usage, and labor requirements for maintenance of furniture, furnishings, interior finishes for all areas or responsibility
- Prepares work and time schedules, under the direction of the Manager/Director, coordinating vacation and holiday time and reviewing daily adjustments in the work schedule
Job Requirements
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of experience in Environmental Services
- Experience with typical Environmental Services equipment/machinery
Preferred:
- One (1) year in supervisory level experience in supervising staff
- Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Tech (CHEST)
