The posted compensation range of $58.94 - $89.62 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

Shape the Future of Surgical Nursing: Join our Department of Surgery as an Educator RN

Under the direction of the Director and the Manager of Perioperative Services, the Educator of Perioperative Service provides clinical, educational, and performance improvement leadership for personnel involved in the care of patients in the perioperative and procedural areas. Utilizing a wide range of problem solving skills, functions as a leader, practitioner, educator, consultant, and researcher.

The Educator coordinates and facilitates Operating Room New Grad Program and supports newly licensed nurses' attainment of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to meet standards of nursing practice. The Educator conducts staff in-services in all the areas of perioperative and procedural areas and promotes quality patient care across the continuum through expert clinical practice, education, research, consultation and clinical leadership. The Educator is accountable for the delivery of cost-efficient and effective health care leading Performance Improvement initiatives and clinical program development. The Educator, works in conjunction with the Perioperative Leadership, actively drives the unit specific plans and ensuring each unit is in alignment with TJC/CMS/CDPH requirements and culture of a safe work environment and positive patient outcomes.

  • Develops teaching strategies based on program description, objectives, and assessed learning needs to promote convergent, divergent, and reflective thinking.
  • Demonstrates initiative in seeking out the education needs of the perioperative and procedural units of Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary teams, data collection, and other process-improvement activities.
  • Develops teaching and educational strategies to comply with required annual skills and competencies as outlined by hospital guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Provides expertise in specialty area to address educational, clinical, and system issues in order to promote quality patient care.
  • Organizes and implements the Perioperative 101 program and the surgical technician training program through team collaboration, mentorship, surgical rotations, and debriefings.
  • Works in partnership with the Perioperative Services and Procedural Areas to streamline process improvements and collaboration between teams.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Minimum three years acute care RN expereince  in OR
  • Current and Active CA Registered Nurse 
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)  and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Preferred: 

  • Certified Nurse OPerating Room (CNOR) 
  • Bachelors Of Nursing, upon hire
