The posted compensation range of $29.93 - $29.93 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. As our Surgery OR Coordinator, you will be a central pivot, orchestrating seamless and efficient surgical procedures while ensuring comprehensive patient support.
Every day, you will meticulously coordinate schedules for physicians, ORs, anesthesiologists, equipment, and staff per physician recommendations. You'll act as a critical liaison, communicating with all parties, distributing pre/post-op information, and expertly managing financial/insurance details to secure prior authorizations.
To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of surgical workflows. Your ability to anticipate needs and provide proactive support will be paramount.
- Coordinates Operating Room preparation and turnover
- Sets up operating room for first case or next surgical case following a surgical procedure. Including all necessary
equipment, supplies, instruments and case carts. - Ensures or locates the surgical case cart(s) and all equipment are available for the next surgical case.
- Collaborates with Charge Nurse to ensure there is adequate surgical aide coverage for room turnover before going on
lunch, break or leaving the department. - Helps transport surgical instrumentation throughout surgical services and SPD as needed or requested.
- Ensures that each anesthesia machine is stocked with needed supplies at the end of every surgical case.
- Reports any broken equipment or supplies to clinical coordinator following a OR suite turnover.
- Removes and stores supplies and equipment not needed for surgical case(s)
- Gathers supplies and equipment as requested by OR staff and delivers to the appropriate location or surgical suite
- Wears appropriate PPE during turnover.
Transports blood and specimens to and from the Lab and appropriate OR suite in a timely manner. Ensures specimen(s) is appropriately labeled prior to transport. Performs daily OR suite restocking of surgical supplies. Maintains par-levels and discusses changes or lack of surgical supplies with Clinical coordinator. Stocks all surgical PPE by each scrub sink and in other designated areas as needed. Ensures that each waste management system is emptied as needed on every shift and has all filters refilled, and that there is adequate oxygen and C02 tanks available in department, correctly labeled and stored.
Responsible for transport and organization of equipment storage rooms, ensuring that equipment is returned to the correct storage location and is cleaned before storing. Keeps all hallways, storage rooms and supply rooms clean of clutter, removing unused supplies, equipment and sterile supplies. Completes duties in a timely manner and willingly accepts additional assignments to facilitate efficiency within the department. Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Graduate in General Studies
- One year experience in an acute care setting.
- Basic Life Support - CPR
Preferred
- One year experience working within a surgical setting
- Experience with sterile supplies
