The posted compensation range of $55.46 - $67.44 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Chief Engineer, you will be a central figure responsible for leading the strategic planning, operation, and maintenance of our facilities' critical engineering systems, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and compliance. You will play a vital role in upholding infrastructure integrity and driving operational excellence.

Every day, you will expertly manage and mentor a team, collaboratively developing and implementing comprehensive preventive maintenance programs, overseeing complex repairs, and ensuring efficient operation of all building systems. You will also manage budgets, procure resources, ensure strict adherence to safety and environmental standards, and provide critical technical guidance for projects.

To be successful in this role, you will combine extensive leadership experience in facility engineering, a profound understanding of building systems, and all required licenses/certifications. You will demonstrate exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, meticulous attention to safety, and thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment dedicated to maintaining a safe and highly functional operational setting.

  • Audits mechanical and static pressure. Report any discrepancies immediately to the supervisor.
  • Completes preventative maintenance work orders per standard indicated on work orders. Assures completion every month by all resources.
  • Understands and operates emergency generators and related switch-gear per Regulatory Standards.
  • Consistently practices the safe operation of equipment and uses all safety equipment as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates and exercises the necessary skills to properly operate and maintain all related HVAC equipment.
  • Demonstrates and exercises the necessary skills to properly operate and maintain all related boiler operations and equipment, including fuel switching.

Job Requirements

Required

  • 4 years (with 2 years in a hospital setting) Building engineering and maintenance experience.
  • CA Driver's License
  • MECH Certification (Mechanical Evaluation Certification for Hospitals)
  • Certified Refrigerator Repair

Preferred

  • Maintains and repairs the following equipment and associated systems: Boiler systems, HVAC, Pneumatic controls, Emergency generators, Electrical distribution systems, Water supply and drainage systems, Miscellaneous building equipment and systems, Physical structures of facilities, Medical gas systems, Fire Alarm systems, Nurses call and other communication systems
