The posted compensation range of $45.26 - $67.32 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Position Summary:
The Clinical Educator II provides staff development expertise in their assigned specialty as an educator, expert clinician, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader, patient advocate and researcher. The Educator will assess the learning needs of staff through testing, direct observation, interviews and coordination with Nursing Director. Identified deficits in skills and knowledge will be addressed through one on one and group training sessions.
- The Educator will develop and implement annual unit based competencies. Competencies will be determined via trends, learning needs, clinical indicators and other sources as identified by the organization.
- The Perioperative Educator works as a preceptor and coordinates with additional preceptors for new and transferring staff and for those under remediation. Must maintain clinical competency, which includes the ability to provide primary/direct patient care, cover routine call shifts, and staff call-shift training.
- May participate in house-wide education and patient education programs.
- Each supports the clinical and professional development of their staff, with a goal of achieving excellence in the delivery of evidence based nursing practice.
- The Clinical Educator II facilitates the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency, continuing education and professional development.
- In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the Clinical Educator II assists in creating a professional nursing climate and supports the SRDH mission, vision and values.
- The ability to work autonomously and in coordination with the Clinical Educators is essential. Reporting relationship: Direct reporting to Nursing Director in assigned specialty with an indirect reporting to the Director of Education.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of four (4) years of perioperative clinical experience or two (2) years of perioperative experience and two (2) years in an educational setting or leadership (the latter may be a combination).
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or current enrollment in a Master's Degree program with an education plan approved by the CNE which will allow completion of the Master's Degree program within three years. Will accept Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a Master's Degree in Nursing.
- RN = RN license from NV State Nursing Board.
- CT CPRBLS = Basic Life Support CPR. CPR Specialty certification as required based on service area. All mandatory certifications required for RNs in assigned specialty.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint or similar computer based programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- National certification in specialty or Professional Staff Development.
- Instructor status in at least one of the mandatory certifications required for assigned specialty.
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
