The posted compensation range of $28.80 - $47.52 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Certified Surgical Tech, you will work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN, bringing your certified expertise to keep the operating room organized, sterile, and ready for safe, efficient surgical procedures.

Every day, you will arrange and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases, passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure. You will also assist in preparing and moving patients, along with sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms between cases.

To be successful in this role, you will need current surgical technology certification, strong attention to detail, solid knowledge of sterile technique, and the ability to stay calm and communicate effectively as part of a fast-paced surgical team.

  • Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
  • Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
  • Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.
  • Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
  • Provides on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
  • Anticipates possible problems or complications that could arise during case. Adjusts quickly and prepares for emergent cases that change workflow.

We are offering a $00,000 Sign on bonus in addition up to $10,000 relocation assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Schedule: 36hrs/wk- Days- variable days of the week and shift start times per surgical volume and current unit needs.

Call required approx. 4 call shifts in 6 week schedule block. Typically, no weekend call unless covering team members PTO.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
  • Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. 
    • A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Preferred

  • One (1) year of experience in a surgical setting
  • Experience in a specialty field
  • Previous OR experience highly preferred

Where You'll Work

As a Certified Surgical Technologist at St. Anthony Hospital, you will play a vital role in our high-volume surgical department, which features 17 OR suites including a dedicated trauma room, a hybrid room, a specialized CVOR, and a cystoscopy suite. Managing a caseload of approximately 900–950 procedures per month, you will scrub into a diverse array of cases across specialties including General, Ortho (Trauma), Neuro, Spine, Eyes, ENT, GU, Robotics (DaVinci XI/SI), Vascular, Endovascular, Cardiac, and OB/GYN. While our team utilizes specialized staff for Cardiac and Neuro, you will be cross-trained to provide expert support across all other surgical services. Your daily responsibilities will include maintaining a strict sterile field, anticipating surgeon needs, handing instruments, updating preference cards, facilitating efficient room turnovers, and providing seamless intraoperative support by delivering additional supplies and covering breaks to ensure the highest standard of patient care.

Located in Lakewood, Colorado, St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center where we provide a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Denver and the surrounding region through our state-of-the-art medical campus and home base for Flight For Life Colorado. With four trauma rooms including the T-10 room, a dedicated field-to-surgery suite ready 24/7 for trauma surgeons and specially trained teams, our staff can provide life-saving care to the most severely ill and injured patients.
