The Market Director, Surgical Services for the Kentucky Market is a dynamic and experienced leader responsible for the strategic oversight, operational efficiency, and business management of all perioperative services within the CommonSpirit Health Kentucky market. This visible and influential role will drive excellence in patient care, optimize resource utilization, and foster strong foundational relationships across all surgical service lines. The Market Director will report directly to the Vice President of Patient Care Services at each hospital within the market, ensuring alignment with individual facility goals while providing integrated market-wide leadership.
- Service Line Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive market-wide strategic plan for surgical services that aligns with CommonSpirit Health's mission, vision, and financial objectives.
- Business Growth & Development: Identify and pursue opportunities for market growth, service expansion, and new program development within surgical services.
- Financial Performance: Accountable for the overall financial performance of surgical services across the market, including budget development, resource allocation, revenue cycle management, and cost containment initiatives.
- Market Positioning: Position CommonSpirit Health as the provider of choice for surgical services in the Kentucky market, leveraging quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and innovative approaches.
- Technology & Innovation: Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment, and surgical techniques to enhance patient care, efficiency, and safety.
- Compliance & Regulatory: Ensure all surgical services operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards (e.g., TJC, CMS).
- Process Improvement: Lead continuous process improvement initiatives across all perioperative departments (OR, PACU, Sterile Processing, Pre-Op, etc.) to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflows.
- Metrics & Dashboards: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for surgical services.
- Clinical Leadership: Foster strong, collaborative relationships with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other clinical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes and physician satisfaction.
- Hospital Leadership: Partner with VP of Patient Care Services, hospital presidents, and other executive leaders at each facility to align surgical services with overall hospital strategic goals.
- Perioperative Directors: Provide direct mentorship, guidance, and support to the perioperative services directors at each hospital, fostering a strong team environment and promoting professional development.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with other departments impacting surgical services, such as emergency services, intensivists, and ancillary services.
- Community Engagement: Represent CommonSpirit Health surgical services in the community, building relationships with referring providers and community organizations.
Job Requirements
Masters Of Nursing or Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
10+ years progressive leadership experience in perioperative services, with at least 5 years at a director or multi-facility leadership level.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, business development, and financial management for surgical services.
- Proven track record of driving operational efficiencies and achieving measurable improvements in key performance indicators.
- Experience working within a multi-site health system or a large, complex healthcare organization is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
