The posted compensation range of $59 - $60 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

CHI St. Vincent Infirmary is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner Intensivist-Hospitalist to join our team!

We're looking for a dedicated and skilled professional to provide vital coverage as part of our Intensivist-Hospitalist team. While PRN coverage varies including weekends or weekdays, specific shifts will be determined to meet both hospital needs and your availability. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic environment, managing complex patient cases and collaborating with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide comprehensive direct patient care, including conducting thorough history-taking, advanced physical assessments, and formulating differential diagnoses for critically ill and hospitalized patients.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate a wide range of diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, advanced imaging, and specialized procedures, to guide patient management.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust complex medical management plans for acute and chronic conditions within the intensive care and hospital settings, often managing multiple co-morbidities.
  • Perform and/or assist with advanced medical procedures.
  • Lead or actively participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds, presenting complex patient cases, collaborating on management strategies, and contributing to care transitions.
  • Provide in-depth patient and family education and counseling regarding critical illness, treatment options, prognosis, advanced care planning, and end-of-life discussions, demonstrating advanced communication skills.
  • Collaborate autonomously and in conjunction with supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless, holistic, and evidence-based patient care.
  • Maintain meticulous and comprehensive electronic medical record documentation, including progress notes, orders, and procedure notes, reflecting advanced clinical reasoning.
  • Actively engage in quality improvement initiatives, participate in clinical research, and pursue ongoing professional development and continuing medical education relevant to critical care and hospital medicine.

Job Requirements
  • Previous experience as a hospital-based nurse practitioner is desirable but not required.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner Licensure in Arkansas (Acute Care certified)
  • Collaborative Agreement with supervising physician.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate and ability to maintain said certificate.
  • ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required upon hire
