The posted compensation range of $32.30 - $48.05 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Respiratory Therapist Supervisor, you will lead our Respiratory Care technical staff, providing instruction and evaluation, while assisting the Director/Manager in department management. This role also includes direct patient care as needed.

Every day you will supervise, instruct, and evaluate Respiratory Care Practitioners. You'll assist the Director/Manager in overall department management and provide direct patient care. Daily contacts include subordinates, co-workers, patients, medical staff, and physicians.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong leadership, instructional, and evaluative skills, with advanced clinical expertise in respiratory care. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for staff supervision and interdisciplinary contact are essential.
  • HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT


    Works with Team Leaders to manage staff on a daily basis to insure optimum productivity and quality of care.


    Assures that staff completes tasks within the designated time limits.


    Assures that team members are informed about new and current hospital policies and procedures.


    Utilizes staffing in the most responsible manner both fiscally and clinically.


    Instrumental in the interviewing, hiring and orientation of new employees, as well as probationary and annual performance evaluation.


    Assumes responsibility for behavioral and job performance counseling.
  • FISCAL MANAGEMENT


    Assists in the development of policies and procedures, and training in any new equipment that achieve the desired outcomes with optimal utilization of resources.


    Serves as a resource for all customers in regard to equipment and supplies within own area of expertise.


    Projects materiel and capital needs for operational and capital budgets.
  • MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION AND SUPPORT


    Maintains an understanding of the department's work management system and effectively communicates information to the staff.


    Effectively communicates to the staff information needed for their development and job satisfaction.


    Develops and implements new protocols and pathways in conjunction with other health care professionals to develop process improvement in inter-disciplinary teams.
  • SELF-DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP


    Maintains current professional record according to department and Health System standards, by completing hospital mandatories and department competencies in timely manner.


    Actively participates in individual and group educational training activities. Attends conferences and shares knowledge with peers.


    Assists in writing or revising procedures to keep manuals current and meaningful for staff use.


    Sets standards for performance in General Adult Care, Critical Care (Adult and/or Pediatric), or Diagnostics.


    Assumes leadership or preceptor role in orientation of new employees and students, particularly in critical care areas or pulmonary lab, demonstrating effective communication skills in all areas of patient care.


    Takes responsibility for helping to staff department during busy times by volunteering for extra shifts or changing schedules.


    Adapts to change in a positive, professional manner by work and deeds in order to meet the demands of the changing Health System environment.


    Assumes full responsibility for maintaining current licensure


    Prepared to assume the duties of the leader of the shift during staff shortages or unexpected busy times and take on the responsibility of procuring additional staff in case of shortages.


    Helps assure staff competency by providing classes, inservices, and one-on-one instruction as needed and develops process improvement projects based on department competency results.


    Able to communicate the goals and values of the hospital to the staff in an effective manner.


    Serves as a resource for problem solving and improvement for group morale in the department.


    Serves as role model to staff in all areas of professional development and continuing education.


    Assist in shift meetings to discuss new procedures and equipment and problems encountered in implementing them.


    Promotes professionalism and support for Respiratory Care by maintaining membership in the AARC and NBRC.

Job Requirements
Required
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: AR, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 30 Days and

Preferred
  • Bachelors Other in respiratory therapy, finance, management, or any health related field and 5 years of experience as an RRT, upon hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire and
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist, upon hire and
  • Certified Pulmonary Function Tester, upon hire or
  • Registered Pulmonary Function Tester, upon hire
