ASC Tech (GI, Urology, PMR)
The posted compensation range of $30.55 - $39.86 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
1. Day of Procedure: room set-up for each procedure ensuring infection control, restocking of all supplies and turn-over of equipment. Works within the department to ensure equipment is transferred effectively between procedures area and reprocessing areas. Engaging with providers as necessary to ensure all required equipment is ready for use. Performs quality
assurance on equipment prior to use.
2. Assists patients with preparation for procedures including entering data into the electronic health record as delegated by RN. Assists RN with patient readiness including checking vitals, patient positioning, performing enemas, taking blood glucose reading, and performing equipment safety checks. Participates in pre-procedure time out as part of the healthcare team. Engages with patient as necessary to ensure their comfort.
3. Assists with procedures and operates a variety of equipment under the direction of the provider. Collects, prepares and labels specimens during endoscopic exams. Prepares pathology slips according to standard work.
4. Assists with care of patients in recovery as delegated by RN including taking and documenting vital signs and ambulating patients as necessary in preparation of discharge.
5. Hands off information between procedure rooms, equipment inventory and other staff members ensuring that procedures start on time with all necessary equipment available and ready for use.
6. Additional duties may vary by work location, including the reprocessing and high level disinfection of endoscopes according to the manufacturer’s instructions, coordinating scope repair and maintenance requirements, and securing loaner equipment as
needed.
Qualifications
We require:
- This position requires a high school diploma or GED and ability to read and comprehend at a 12th Grade Level or above.
- Must be able to read, understand and implement instructions related to proper cleaning and high level disinfection of gastrointestinal endoscopes and accessories as well as various complex therapeutic modalities.
- Completion of an accredited medical assistant course is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Completion of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) GI Associate Program is preferred.
Requires moderate physical strength in moving patients and adjusting equipment. Requires good auditory and visual acuity as well as good manual dexterity. - Requires a mature attitude and ability to maintain a good rapport with patients, families, physicians, and other medical center personnel.
