The posted compensation range of $25.05 - $33.72 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Incumbent will take responsibility for his/her actions, seek guidance for, and promptly report any suspected violation as provided in the Standards of Conduct and CommonSpirit Health policies and procedures. Incumbent will maintain the highest standards of business ethics and integrity, including representing CommonSpirit Health in a positive way, displaying honesty in all dealings, and ensuring confidentiality of all proprietary and operational information in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies. Incumbent will maintain the confidentiality and integrity of all patients’ Protected Health Information in accordance with HIPAA and HITECH regulations and CommonSpirit Health policies and procedures. Incumbent will maintain appropriate records and documentation
pertinent to the client/patient/staff and department operation applicable to his/her role. Incumbent will complete all mandatory education on time, and will cooperate in investigation matters as requested.

  • Ensures that specimens are accessioned and dispensed to the appropriate lab sections. Instructs personnel and monitors accession tasks to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assists the Laboratory Support Supervisor in the direction of the phlebotomy and clerical Staff consistent with their job descriptions and Laboratory/Hospital initiatives/goals.
  • Assists employees in their specific duties as needed to ensure efficient handling of specimens and patients.
  • Monitors phlebotomy supplies, ensuring an adequate inventory.
  • Assists the Laboratory Support Supervisor in the development, maintenance and revision to the specimen handling and phlebotomy procedures.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High school graduate or equivalent and
  • Two years of college with an emphasis on the biological sciences or two years of experience as a phlebotomist or supervisor
  • Must possess and maintain a current Phlebotomy license with the State of California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer skills
