The posted compensation range of $44.71 - $60.17 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. As our Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), you will be a vital clinical professional, dedicated to providing high-quality respiratory care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric critical care patients.
Every day, under medical and departmental direction, you'll deliver essential respiratory care per physician orders and policies. You'll ensure critical care services are met, meticulously manage equipment, and adapt care plans to optimize patient outcomes.
To be successful, you'll combine strong clinical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication, and a compassionate approach, directly contributing to healing and recovery in critical care.
- Administers in a safe, effective manner and in accordance with policies and procedures all therapeutics to adult, adolescent, geriatric, pediatric and neonatal patients including, but not limited to: oxygen administration, aerosolized medications, aerosol administration via adult and pediatric mist tents, the use of ultrasonic nebulizers, postural drainage and percussion.
- Performs pediatric, neonatal, geriatric and adult ventilator support and airway management as prescribed by a physician to provide quality respiratory care. Accompanies physicians on rounds in the intensive care and other areas as needed. Sets up volume and time cycled ventilators and perform an operator function check to ensure the safety and performance of equipment. Ventilator settings correspond to written parameter settings and endotracheal tubes are positioned correctly.
- Makes appropriate recommendation for variation, continuation or discontinuation of the therapy based upon assessment of the patient's arterial blood gas analysis, chest x-rays and other pertinent laboratory data to ensure appropriate and effective respiratory care.
- Applies and evaluates transcutaneous PO2 and PCO2, capnography, cardiac, blood pressure and oxygen saturation monitoring according to the department's policies and procedures.
- Performs arterial punctures and draws from arterial lines for blood gas analysis. Practitioner follows without injury to the patient all of the regulations relevant to blood handling and labeling procedures as prescribed by departmental policy and California State Law.
- Performs bronchoscopy assistance including the administration of medication under physician order and following departmental protocol for patients (including adult, adolescent, neonatal, geriatric, pediatric) monitoring and evaluation during and after the procedure. Documents the administration of any medications. Restocks the area after each procedure to assure adequate supplies are available for immediate patient care. Sterilizes and stores bronchoscope and additional tools per protocol.
