The posted compensation range of $60.22 - $79.24 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality care that truly impacts our patients' well-being and recovery.

  • Assesses patients scheduled for complicated diagnostic cardiac catheterization. Completes the assessment of adult and geriatric coronary patients scheduled for diagnostic cardiac catheterization, and imaging special procedures including heart sounds, rhythm and lung sounds. Observes, collects and records data related to a patient's biophysical, psychosocial, environmental and self-care ability as well as educational and discharge planning needs. Accurately obtains and records pertinent medical history in the patient chart. Obtains oral and written history of course of disease, medications, and previous treatment as relevant to cardiac cath procedure. Identifies and provides for individual patient care needs. Completes post-procedure assessment per departmental standards.
  • Develops and monitors a nursing diagnosis plan of care and patient expected outcome that include nursing intervention during the pre-procedure phase. Individualized care plans are developed which follow surgery protocols. Utilizes the nursing process to establish priority needs for each individual patient including special procedures and medication administration. Accurately identifies patient problems and plans appropriate course of action using established departmental standards of care for patients with suspected coronary disease. Utilizes pre-cath/angio, patient history and physical in the development of the care plan. Utilizes the nursing process in setting patient priorities. Updates, monitors and reviews individualized plan of care specific to the patient's needs and status continually during the procedure. Utilizing aseptic technique sets up for procedure according to physician preference and established policy and procedure. Communicates with the supervisor on an ongoing or as needed basis for the plan of the day. Uses nursing processes to set short term goals.
  • Assists with the scheduling of procedures coordinating with the schedulers in surgery and imaging. Is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of procedures, coordination and monitoring of the diagnostic procedure. Assists team in providing patient care by anticipating physician needs and preparing, handling, and properly disposing of surgical instruments. Monitors and assesses surgical procedure during the interoperative phase. Follows all physician orders according to prescribed medical regime by preparing, assisting and providing follow up care to patients undergoing diagnostic procedures. Properly administers appropriate interventions as directed. Identifies life threatening situations and communicates patient status accurately.
  • Evaluates nursing care given and provides for ancillary services when indicated. Requests patient's verbalization of their understanding regarding invasive diagnostic procedure and post-procedure instructions. Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions/actions in relation to intended goals or outcomes. Documents the patient's response to care and treatment intervention in the nurse's notes in relation to expected outcomes. Revises and monitors patient care plan based on an evaluation of the effectiveness of the diagnostic surgical intervention.
  • Provides adequate information and instruction to the patient/family/significant other and initiates measures to meet these needs. Identifies patient/family/significant other knowledge needs and documents on the nurse's notes. Initiates teaching plan for post-procedure care and documents verbal instructions. Documents patient, family and significant other's response to teaching in the patient record.
  • Assesses nursing care needs of patients and abilities of available ancillary health care personnel in the Cath Lab and Diagnostic Imaging departments Provides clinical coordination and direction in a charge nurse role. Provides direction to other members of the nursing team to ensure that patient care is administered in a thorough, safe and knowledgeable manner. Collaborates and communicates with other hospital departments to enhance data collection, nursing interventions and evaluation of care. Communicates with peers, physicians and other hospital departments to foster more efficient interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relations. Participates in unit based Quality Assurance activities. Is available to the unit personnel to share clinical expertise and knowledge of the disease process and protocols. Consults with more experienced nursing staff as resource on clinical and professional problems and looks to them for leadership.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • 1-3 years One year of experience as a Registered Nurse in catheterization laboratory nursing area or one year of critical care experience if staffing permits
  • Registered Nurse: CA
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, we accept American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support we accept American Heart Association

Preferred:

  • EKG interpretation class
