The posted compensation range of $47.52 - $70.68 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Physical Therapist, you will help patients rebuild or maintain their physical wellbeing so they can function at their best level, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life.

Every day you will perform initial evaluations, develop and update individualized plans of care, and provide a variety of direct treatments. You will be expected to consistently meet patient care productivity standards, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and families, and promote a positive customer service environment.

To be successful in this role, you must possess strong age-appropriate competency skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care.

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE Attend and respond to customer needs in a manner which demonstrates caring, sensitivity and empathy. Maintains customer focus with all patient, consumer, health professional and payor interactions. Behaviors demonstrating this focus include total sensitivity and complete responsiveness to the customer. During all phases of treatment, involve patient and/or family in goal setting, education and discharge planning.
  • QUALITY OF WORK Deliver high quality care and demonstrate departmental quality standards. Use evaluation techniques that are appropriate to patient's age and condition. Complete written evaluation or dictations within 48 hours of visit. Develop individualized treatment plans with the following components: procedures/ modalities to be used, treatment objectives, frequency and duration, long and short term goals, rehabilitation potential. For each patient visit, using brief notes, document objective and measurable treatment outcomes. NOTE: Routine daily treatments may be logged in treatment record forms with weekly summary. Reassess patient progress on a weekly basis. When discharging or transferring patients, provide specific written instructions for the next level of treatment. Participate in performance improvement activities by accurately collecting data and gathering information as directed. Administer safe treatment in all environments. Without exception, follow hospital-wide policies and procedures for safety and infection control.
  • TEAM WORK/PROBLEM SOLVING Openly communicate (including listening) as a team member to promote effective working relationships and resolve conflicts. "Pitches in" for the department as a whole. Define problem issues, analyze alternatives, understand consequences and develop a plan or solution. Communicate proactively, supportively and assertively with colleagues regarding patient care, projects and scheduling. Serve as consultant and resource person to colleagues. During staff meetings, participate in department planning by offering suggestions and volunteering to participate in projects. Participate and contribute in interdisciplinary care planning for individual patients. Communicate clearly and briefly in writing with physician about patient status within two weeks of initial evaluation and/or prior to patient's physician visit. With workers' compensation cases include communication with employee's supervisor and/or Workers Comp Coordinator.
  • CLINICAL EXPERTISE Demonstrate current state-of-the-art concepts, theories and practices in own profession and area of specialization which includes professional development. Attend one approved outside professional growth experience annually and participate in at least one staff inservice per month. Demonstrate knowledge of state-of-the-art equipment and technology and recommends needed changes to Director. Participate in clinical teaching with student interns by providing then with education and supervision.
  • ATTENDANCE AND RELIABILITY Consistently and punctually attend work with demonstrated flexibility to meet changing patient care and project demands. As an exempt employee organize schedule to respond effectively to patient care and project demands. Additional scheduling requirements per Director's assessment of team's scheduling needs. Organize caseload on a daily basis and schedules new evaluations within 48 hours of referral (24 hours for inpatient evaluations). Consistently assist colleagues within site and at other sites to meet patient care and project demand.
  • QUANTITY OF WORK Meet department productivity standards for patient care on a daily basis and complete projects in a timely manner. A key component is time management. Organize patient care schedule to accommodate an average minimum of 5 hours (=20 quarter hour units) per patient care day. Leverage technical support of PTA's and Aides, in order to see more patients or work on projects. In addition collaborate with peers to optimize site productivity. Accurately complete discharge summaries within 5 days of discharge; complete Medicare documentation by the 5th working day of the following month. On a daily basis, complete billing activity and tracking of quarter hour units.
