Responsibilities

Lead the Way: Drive Excellence in Stroke and Orthopedic Care.  The Stroke and Orthopedic Program Manager is the central point of contact for the program's daily operations. Reporting to the Director, this role supports all aspects of program management, including financial oversight, performance improvement initiatives, productivity enhancement, recruitment efforts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Manager also serves as a liaison between the program and other departments or agencies, coordinating and implementing services and activities related to the Stroke Center within the Neuroscience Program.

  • Education & Training: Collaborate with the Nursing Education Department to develop and implement comprehensive education programs for staff and physicians involved in the Stroke and Orthopedic programs.
  • Presentation & Reporting:Prepare and deliver informative presentations to hospital and department stakeholders, ensuring accurate and timely communication of key program updates and required reports.
  • Clinical Expertise: Serve as a clinical resource and consultant for staff, providing expert guidance on the care of stroke patients with complex needs.
  • Code Stroke Response:Provide critical support during simultaneous Code Stroke events, working alongside the Stroke Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to ensure optimal patient outcomes and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Performance Improvement:Lead and manage performance improvement initiatives, including outcome evaluation, to maintain and enhance program quality and meet The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards.
  • Data Management & Compliance: Oversee chart audits, data extraction, and submission for program outcomes, ensuring compliance with stroke accreditation, LA County guidelines, and the CJR bundle initiative. Develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps.
  • Program Updates & Collaboration: Provide timely updates to the Program Director regarding program performance and process improvement needs, actively participating in solution development and implementation.
  • Program Management: Manage all aspects of the Stroke and Orthopedic programs, collaborating closely with the Program Director to achieve program goals.
  • Survey Readiness: Lead the Stroke and Orthopedic Program's preparation for Joint Commission surveys, including conducting gap analyses, collaborating with stakeholders to address identified gaps, and ensuring compliance with all TJC standards.
  • Staff Supervision & Development: Supervise and hold staff accountable, providing ongoing informal and formal feedback, completing performance evaluations, and administering disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Meeting Management: Manage department monthly meetings, including preparing meeting minutes, communicating updates to members, and compiling storyboards. Provide detailed information and reports on the stroke program during relevant meetings.
  • Program Promotion: Represent and promote stroke services to hospital staff, volunteers, patients, and visitors, demonstrating a positive attitude and effective communication skills.
  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.


Qualifications
  • Minimum five years nursing experience required, including care of the stroke patient. Two years’ experience in a managerial or program development position.
  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of nursing,
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Current CA Registered Nurse license
  • Current AHA BLS certification.
  • Stroke Certified Registered Nurse.
  • Nurse Practitioner NP-C preferred.
  • MSN degree preferred.
