The posted compensation range of $25.42 - $37.82 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Building Automation System Engineer installs, maintains, and repairs computer-controlled systems that monitor and manage a building's mechanical and electrical equipment, such as HVAC, lighting, and security systems. Key responsibilities include programming control systems, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing performance for energy efficiency. The role requires strong technical skills in areas like electronics, mechanics, and computer software, and the ability to work with various diagnostic tools and read blueprints.
- Installation and programming: Install, configure, and program building automation systems (BAS), including setting up sequences of operations and schedules.
- Maintenance and repair: Perform routine maintenance, diagnose system failures, and perform repairs on equipment like HVAC, lighting controls, and access control systems.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, using tools like multimeters and signal analyzers.
- System optimization: Analyze energy usage and make modifications to improve efficiency. This can involve adjusting set points for temperature, humidity, and other factors.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system changes, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other staff, including HVAC, electrical, and IT personnel, and sometimes with vendors.
Job Requirements
- High School Graduate General Studies
- 1-3 years minimum experience with HVAC systems and a minimum of one year of HVAC experience in a hospital environment.
- Technical School HVAC, Steam System Operating or similar technical school training.
- Minimum three years experience with HVAC systems and a minimum of one year of HVAC experience in a hospital environment.
- 1-3 years previous experience with BAS (Siemens Desigo, JCI, Honeywell Alerton, Trane Summit, etc.)
