As our Cardiac Anesthesiologist, you will join CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy, a 391-bed Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center, where you'll practice within a collaborative care team of 23 anesthesiologists and 27 CRNAs. Fellowship-trained candidates will have the opportunity to provide care for a high-acuity patient population while supporting a high-volume cardiovascular and expanding structural heart program. This role is ideal for physicians seeking exposure to complex cardiac cases, opportunities for teaching and academic involvement, and the ability to help shape a newly approved Anesthesiology Residency Program launching in 2026. The practice utilizes the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system, providing an integrated and efficient clinical workflow across the health system.
Every day you will provide anesthetic care for a full spectrum of adult cardiac surgical procedures, including CABG and valve surgeries, structural heart interventions (TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman, and TriClip), complex aortic surgery, and patients supported by a robust ECMO program. You will perform and interpret intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, and multidisciplinary care teams, and supervise and mentor CRNAs, anesthesiology residents, and medical students in a collaborative, team-based environment. This role offers the opportunity to maintain a highly specialized cardiac anesthesiology practice while caring for high-acuity patients and participating in advanced surgical procedures within a supportive academic setting.
To be successful in this role, you will be fellowship-trained in Cardiac Anesthesiology and possess advanced TEE certification, with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. You will have an interest in academic medicine and enjoy educating the next generation of physicians through an academic appointment with Creighton University School of Medicine. Opportunities include teaching medical students and anesthesiology residents in our newly launched residency program, helping develop the cardiac anesthesia curriculum, participating in research and quality improvement initiatives, and contributing to the future development of a cardiac anesthesia fellowship program if desired.
We offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support your career and well-being. This includes a starting bonus or education stipend, 13 weeks of paid time off, a generous CME allowance, a 401(k) with employer match, relocation assistance, paid malpractice insurance with tail coverage, and reimbursement for medical licensure expenses. Our comprehensive package allows you to focus on providing exceptional patient care while enjoying outstanding work-life balance and long-term career support.
