The posted compensation range of $32.38 - $48.17 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Join a large NIH-funded research consortium as a Clinical Research Patient Navigator and help advance participant-centered clinical research. In this role you will support enrollment site's longitudinal follow-up of study participants and retention efforts across a multi-site study working closely with participants research sites and community partners. Key responsibilities include supporting site's to coordinate follow-up for longitudinal study visits development of site and community-facing newsletters participating in community outreach events and partnering with sites to develop tailored retention plans. You will also help assess the participant experience identify opportunities to reduce attrition and educate the community about the study’s progress and opportunities for engagement. This role is ideal for a collaborative organized professional who is passionate about improving the research experience for site's participants and helping ensure successful study completion.

As our Clinical Research Patient Navigator, you will be an integral position within the clinical research team. Under the supervision of the Departmental Program Manager, you will orient patients to the research process, educate patients about available research options, and serve as an intermediary between patients, caregivers, families, study teams, and clinics.

Every day, this role involves addressing questions related to general trial eligibility, participation and enrollment, and managing concerns or special needs during the trial. You will provide extensive support to patients throughout the screening and enrollment process, enhancing the patient and caregiver experience, facilitating enrollment, providing customer service, and reducing research visit related burden. Additionally, you will engage in patient outreach initiatives, communicate with community groups, train research ambassadors, and collaborate with people with lived experience, to improve the clinical trial experience and promote patient-centered trial design.

To be successful in your role, you will strategically guide and support patients through the clinical research process, acting as a crucial intermediary between patients, caregivers, study teams, and clinics. You will demonstrate exceptional communication and empathetic support in orienting patients to research options, managing their concerns, and facilitating enrollment, all while enhancing their experience and contributing to patient outreach, community engagement, and patient-centered trial design.

  • Act as an intermediary between patients, caregivers, families, study teams and leadership, with the goal of helping patients interested in clinical research have access to research opportunities, and support the clinical trial team’s recruitment and retention goals.
  • Serve as the central contact point for patients looking for information about departmental specific research opportunities, and respond to inquiries in a reasonable timeframe.
  • Responsible for educating, facilitating and disseminating information about research opportunities via phone, email or other media. Will collaborate with internal marketing and communications teams toward completion of these goals.
  • Assess patient/family questions and concerns and develop a plan to address those needs in a reasonable timeframe.
  • Support for scientific communication, assist project managers and investigators in preparing for scientific presentations and manuscript development.
  • Guide patients, caregivers and families through the steps for enrollment by providing comprehensive support, frequent proactive check-ins and resolving delays in enrollment.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum, (1) one year of patient care, related experience


Preferred

  • Previous experience working in clinical research 
  • Experience in working with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace systems
  • Familiar with clinical and medical terminology to enable effective interactions and communications with patients, caregivers and clinicians as well as understanding of the importance of directing clinical questions to licensed professionals when necessary
