Medical Staff Coordinator
The posted compensation range of $22.95 - $33.28 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
The Coordinator performs complex, specialized Medical Staff function-related administrative tasks with little to no supervision. This includes coordinating a variety of programs and assisting in budget preparation. Key responsibilties include:
Coordinates and organizes meetings, paperwork and filing systems. Maintains records and insures compliance with applicable regulatory agency.
Medical Staff:
- Maintains ongoing knowledge of medical staff activities and relays, as necessary, information regarding physician status, staff standing, privilege delineation, and or supervision status to appropriate personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
- Coordinates and writes original and edited copy for the Medical Staff Newsletter; creates and posts slides for Physicians Lounge electronic display. Effectively Interacts and communicates with Physician, Administrator and Director level personnel to ensure project success.
FPPE:
- Monitors the progress of physicians through the supervision period, (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation) assisting department chairmen with the appropriate procedures, forms and time limits.
Credentialing:
- Performs other duties as assigned in an effective and competent manner. This includes functions required by Delegated Agreement with Health Plans, Delegated Credentialing And Delegated Audits. Applies NCQA Standards to the process. Effectively interacts and communicates with Physician, Administrator and Director level personnel to ensure project Success.
- Exercises judgment and discretion in recognizing the legal implications of credentialing functions and medical staff issues.
- Maintains detailed knowledge of the steps to be followed in credentialing procedures; communicates with applicants regarding documentation requirements to ensure expeditious completion of credentialing process. Balances and prioritizes conflicting demands from Physicians, Administrators and Practice Administrators.
- Monitors physician credential files of department applicants. Coordinates with department chairmen regarding applicant document verifications and follow ups on committee actions for application files.
- Coordinates processing of applications and appointments of medical staff and allied health professionals. Process includes updating the physician database as 'single source of truth that feeds multiple programs throughout the organization and on the web. Process also includes updating iPrivileges in the physician database for all to verify practitioner privileges. Oversees orientation of new medical staff members to hospital protocols and services.
- Answers phones and responds to inquiries and appropriately routes requests.
- Inputs information, runs reports, collects, records, queries and analyzes data. Compiles, analyzes, and processes statistical data/reports for program and/or department.
Qualifications
Minimum Education required:
- High school diploma / GED.
Preferred Experience and Education:
- One to three years as a medical staff services professional, or two to five years related experience (quality, risk management, medical records, physician relations, physician practice management).
- Bachelors Degree.
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certifications.
- Certified Professional in Health Quality (CPHQ) and Certified Healthcare Risk Manager (CHRM).
Preferred Licensure and Certifications:
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS).
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
