The posted compensation range of $20.00 - $80.00 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Travel Cardiac Monitor Technician, you will serve as a critical component of our acute care support team, providing remote surveillance for multiple clinical locations from a centralized monitoring station. You will be responsible for observing patient cardio-pulmonary rhythms, identifying potentially dangerous arrhythmias, and maintaining the highest standards of diagnostic accuracy to ensure rapid intervention and patient safety across our healthcare system.

Every day you will manage high-volume patient data by monitoring up to 64 patients simultaneously using advanced telemetry technologies. You will perform baseline ECG assessments, document rhythm changes, and maintain constant, professional communication with bedside Registered Nurses to report clinical shifts. Additionally, you will troubleshoot monitoring equipment, manage alarm systems, and ensure all patient information is meticulously updated within our clinical systems to support optimal care delivery.

You are a highly adaptable professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes environments and understands the nuances of working across different clinical locations. Your technical aptitude, commitment to medical safety protocols, and ability to foster collaborative relationships with clinical staff will be essential in maintaining the integrity of our monitoring services. 

  • Conduct remote cardiac surveillance for a high volume of patients, utilizing advanced telemetry to identify and document life-threatening arrhythmias. 
  • Provide travel-based clinical support to various CommonSpirit Health locations, adapting quickly to local facility protocols and unit cultures.
  • Execute immediate, professional notification of bedside staff regarding significant changes in cardiac rhythm to facilitate urgent patient interventions.
  • Perform routine equipment troubleshooting and quality maintenance, ensuring all telemetry systems operate within regulatory and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and shift reports, ensuring seamless clinical handoffs and data integrity across all patient encounters.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance initiatives and ongoing professional development to stay current with diagnostic imaging and monitoring technologies.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Minimum two years of recent electrocardiogram technician experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.
  • Successful completion of a Basic EKG test is required within 90 days of hire. 
  • Basic and/or Advanced EKG Certificate, EMT Certificate or Cardio-Pulmonary Certificate
  • Knowledge of standards, procedures and equipment relating to the monitoring and documenting of cardiac rhythms.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, procedures and equipment applicable to the operations of the assigned work unit
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to accurately recognize cardiac rhythms and to detect arrhythmias.
  • Ability to take appropriate action and follow established protocols in notifying RN staff of changes in cardiac rhythm and arrhythmias.
  • Satisfactory completion of the competency-based training program as a Monitor Technician at CommonSpirit Health

Preferred:

  • Graduation from one of the following accredited programs, including EKG Interpretation 
    • Monitor Technician 
    • Health Unit Coordinator
    • Associate’s degree in EKG Technology.
