The posted compensation range of $28.10 - $41.80 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Pharmacy Coordinator Ambulatory Clinic Lead, you will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day coordination and operational guidance of the Pharmacy Coordinator Team. This role interfaces with all members of the ambulatory care team, pharmacies, payers and pharmacy benefit representatives and pharmaceutical industry medication assistance programs, in order to secure access to prescribed medications.

Every day you will help in creating an efficient and collaborative environment, supporting team members in navigating complex cases, and ensuring consistent application of best practices across the team. You will also assist management in maintaining efficient workflows and adherence to department standards. In addition, you will also be responsible for medication prior authorizations, supporting ambulatory care pharmacy services with improving patient access to medications, and clerical tasks to facilitate and improve patient access to medications.

To be successful in this role, you will provide excellent customer service, have a strong knowledge of pharmaceutical/drug assistance programs and pharmacy/medical insurance coverage, and be able to provide guidance and mentorship to other team members.

As a remote employee, we will provide you with the equipment needed to work from home, including a laptop, docking station, dual monitors, and accessories.

  • Gather required information and prepare initial assessment based on their providers’ prescribed medications for patients, including those that are unable to access or have a hardship to continue to access preferred medications
    • Research and identify potential options for the patient to secure access which may include, but are not limited to:
      • Prior authorization
      • Drug Assistance Program (DAP) application and enrollment
      • Copay discount cards or equivalent discount program
      • Foundation or grant funds available
    • Provides guidance and expertise to other Pharmacy Coordinators on complex cases or challenging patient access issues, ensuring appropriate resolution and consistent application of processes.
  • Identifies patients who require review by an Ambulatory Care Pharmacist and collaborates with the pharmacy team to streamline hand-offs and ensure timely patient care.
  • Respond to provider, Ambulatory Care Pharmacist and patient self-referrals by meeting with patients to assess their medication needs and identify programs and resources to assist with ensuring access to the medication. Assists in resolving escalated patient or provider concerns related to medication access.
  • Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits (e.g. out-of-pocket, deductible and copay expenses) and serve as a liaison between the patient and the medication assistance programs/providers. Monitors and provides feedback on communication and patient support strategies to enhance patient experience.
  • Manages the renewals of medications and eligibility of patient assistance programs including phone follow-up with patients, pharmaceutical companies and providers. Assists in auditing renewal processes for accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
  • Work with medication manufacturers to compile/maintain up-to-date assistance program requirements. Ensures that all team members have access to the latest program information and updates.

Job Requirements

Required

  • One (1) year experience in a non-acute care licensed pharmacy.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrable experience with Pharmaceutical/drug assistance programs. Demonstrable experience in pharmacy/medical insurance coverage. In lieu of the above, demonstrable related work experience in a retail pharmacy, healthcare clinic or hospital environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, mentorship, or lead project/process initiatives within a healthcare or pharmacy setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively support and coordinate team activities

Preferred

  • Clear and current CA Pharmacy Tech license preferred
  • Associates degree preferred
