Responsibilities

Responsible for directing, interpreting and implementing the enterprise strategy for operational excellence and patient/care team/provider engagement across CommonSpirit Health's ambulatory footprint in California. This transformational leader effectively translates transformational strategies and initiatives into standard work and operational workflows focused on experience and engagement across the care team and works in full alignment with CommonSpirit Health's mission and values. This thought leader/partner will drive change/alignment and provide innovative approaches to continuously improve operational effectiveness, efficiency, engagement, patient access, and through the optimization of people, relationships, technology, processes, analytics and systems. As a leader with proven history in operational excellence and driving continuous improvement, this ambulatory transformation/practice innovation leader will partner with the Physician Enterprise Transformation team and will report to the SVP Physician Enterprise Operations California.

Responsible for directing and interpreting enterprise standards for ambulatory operational excellence and leading the enterprise ambulatory transformation strategy in appointed division(s), ensuring alignment with CommonSpirit Health’s mission and strategic objectives. Effectively translates strategic priorities into operational standard work to be deployed across the Physician Enterprise (or in appointed Division(s).

Lead the integration and coordination of transformation initiatives across California in alignment with Physician Enterprise national strategy for operational excellence in areas such as patient access, revenue cycle performance, care team and patient engagement, and virtual care. Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) to help identify opportunities to drive growth, quality, experience and sustainability.

Develops and directs operational standard work to drive sustainability of high performance in these areas. Monitors performance to optimize care team and patient engagement, business objectives and operational performance goals.

Facilitate change through influencing matrixed resources to achieve operational improvement and workflow transformation throughout the Physician Enterprise or within appointed Market(s.) Assist with identifying barriers to operational excellence through root cause analysis and process improvement methodologies. Ensure leader and employee engagement foster a collaborative matrix team-based environment that drives a culture of continuous improvement, quality, exceptional experience and operational excellence.

Liaison between Physician Enterprise and Digital Strategy Leaders and Operations, assuring the intent of operational excellence and engagement with each initiative.

Engage and influence teams within California to use innovative thinking regarding operational efficiency and excellence using process improvement and operational standard work to achieve efficient operations, excellent experience and streamlined patient care workflows.

Effectively collaborates with National, Division and Market leadership, Hospital leadership, physicians, departments and business units to optimize ambulatory transformation, and drive engagement to align the teams across the Physician Enterprise to partner in elevating the experience across the care continuum. Drives continuous improvement towards operational excellence across care teams to align to CommonSpirit Health’s mission and strategic objectives.

Directs and motivates staff to drive engagement and continuous improvement across the enterprise. Uses feedback proactively to address conflict, minimize risk and continuously improve processes and foster open lines of communications between executives, external partners, program leaders, physicians, and staff.


Qualifications

Minimm Experience & Education Requirements

Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in patient access, clinical operations and/or practice management, preferably in a group practice setting required

Bachelor degree is required

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (LSSBB) required

Other Required Experience

Training and experience with process improvement methodology and disciplines; ability to lead process improvement. (Lean, Six Sigma or other).

Experience leading successful physician and employee engagement.

Track record of collaborative communication skills with executives and physicians/APPs of various backgrounds and administrators at various levels.

Proven success as a high-performing operational leader in a large, complex, and integrated healthcare system.

High Organizational EQ

Experience in management of high functioning teams, inspiring teamwork and high performance standards.

Masters MBA / MHA preferred

Preferred experience in transformational processes in a complex, competitive healthcare environment.

Preferred experience with marketing and communications aspects of healthcare.

Preferred experience and demonstrated success in healthcare strategy development and systems planning.
