The posted compensation range of $35.07 - $43.08 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
As an ER Tech, you will provide crucial support and direct patient care in the fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate assistance during critical moments.
Every day you will expertly assist with patient admissions and discharges, perform vital signs and basic medical procedures, maintain a clean and organized environment, and meticulously document observations to support the nursing staff and physician team.
To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding adaptability, strong communication skills, and a calm, proactive demeanor, contributing significantly to timely patient care and a smooth-running ER.
- Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate. Screens individuals by requesting to see identification or visitor pass.
- Prepares/assists patients for examination and treatment: a.Provides clean gown and blanket as needed b.Positions patients appropriately for procedures c.Assembles supplies and equipment needed for care and treatment of patients d.Maintains treatment room in a clean and neat manner e.Removes and deposits soiled linen/trash in designated containers f.Maintains privacy and respects the dignity of each patient g.Follows universal precautions for infection control h.Reports significant observations to nursing and/or physician staff
- Performs and/or assists in the performance o the following patient related tasks and interventions under the order and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician: a.Takes vital signs and retakes as needed b.Application of cardiac monitor, SAO2 monitor and O2. c.Application of heat and cold compresses. d.Application of orthopedic devices and software goods including finger splints, wrist splints, ace bandages, knee immobilizes, all fiberglass splints, etc. e.Applications of simple dressings including tube gauze and pressure dressings, burn dressings, use of stockinette f.Assists with cardiopulmonary resuscitation g.Charts accurately and completely procedures performed h.Application of Behavioral restraints i.Assists with crutch fitting, teaching of crutch walking j.Performs electrocardiograms k.Performs enemas l.Measures and charts Intake and Output m.Performs oral suctioning n.Transfers and transports patients o.Responds to Hospital Team 4 p.Prepares wounds q.Assists the inpatient units with lifting if not busy in ED
- Orders, organizes and maintains supplies from Central Service and Store Room within established guidelines and limits: a.Maintains appropriate stock levels of department supplies b.Adheres to department cost containment measures c.Stocks treatment areas with appropriate level of supplies and clean linen d.Cleans and prepares instruments for Central Service e.Checks all O2 tanks for fullness, lets AC know of need for replacement f.Keeps utility room clean and organized
- Completes all documentation as required
- Assists Hospital staff with lifting duties.
Job Requirements
Minimum:
- High School GED General Studies and m one year experience as EMT1, upon hire or
- one year recent experience in an acute care facility performing basic nursing procedures required and
- Medical, Surgical, Orthopedic experience in an acute care facility may be considered in lieu of Emergency Room experience.
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days
- Emergency Medical Technician: CA, upon hire or
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), upon hire or
- Orthopedic Technologist Registered (ROT), upon hire or
- Certified Nursing Assistant: (CNA:CA), upon hire
