The posted compensation range of $26.60 - $33.33 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Materials Tech, under the direction of Materials Management leadership, you will ensure efficient flow and sanitation of medical supplies and equipment.

Every day you will disinfect equipment/carts, then receive, store, issue, and deliver supplies, preparing items for shipping as needed. You'll perform daily par-level counts, data entry for issued stock, maintain tidy work areas, and participate in inventory/cycle counting.

To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in inventory management systems. A commitment to maintaining a sterile, efficient environment and procedural adherence is essential.

  • Patient Satisfaction: Is a role model for the Hospital's Patient Satisfaction effort, i.e. demonstrates AIDET principles when interacting with customers, subordinates and colleagues.
  • Inventories, Documents, and Replenishes supplies on PAR level carts and other Par level storage areas accurately. Insures all documentation is accurate and completed prior to the end of the shift. Inventories are normally performed utilizing Hand Held computer but may also be done on paper as needed.
  • Visually inspects all material to ascertain package integrity has not been compromised and that items are within their expiration dates. Pulls expired or damaged package and replaces with appropriate product. Locates and removes supplies identified in FDA or Manufacture recalls as directed by the supervisor.
  • Accurately applies the proper patient charge stickers to the correct products to insure proper patient billing and documentation. Practices proper caution in the utilization of all material handling equipment to prevent damage to the facility or injury to self and/or other personnel. 
  • Accurately fills department orders for stock supplies, keys filled items into Materials Management Information System (MMIS), and delivers in a timely manner. Routinely performs assigned tasks related to stocking, issuing, and distribution in a timely manner to insure smooth work flow and movement of supplies.
  • Delivers non-stock supplies and equipment to the ordering departments as needed in a timely manner. Insures all goods are signed for by the receiving department and documents signers' name to insure audit trail. Returns signed documents to Receiving Clerk when deliveries are completed. Items requiring special handling, i.e. FedEx, Next Day deliveries, and refrigerated, must be given delivery priority.

Job Requirements
  • Minimum of two years experience in directly related surgery inventory management
  • Minimum of two years experience as an Instrument Technician or relevant instrument processing experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply & divide plus solve word problems) 
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of equipment and instruments used in Surgery.
