The posted compensation range of $24.00 - $24.00 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Orderly plays a vital role in supporting the efficient and safe operation of the Cardiovascular Catheterization Laboratory (CCL). Their primary responsibilities include the safe and comfortable transportation of patients, assisting with patient positioning during procedures, and meticulously performing housekeeping duties in accordance with hospital policies and universal precautions, including managing medical waste and cleaning spills. The Orderly is also responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels of supplies, rotating sterile items, stocking anesthesia carts, and performing daily quality control checks on anesthesia machines. Furthermore, they act as a messenger and delivery service, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of records and specimens, including demonstrating knowledge of blood bank procedures. Active participation in the Cardiovascular Services' Quality Assurance program and supporting the organization's mission are also key aspects of this position, alongside fulfilling any other duties assigned by CCL Leadership.

  • PATIENT TRANSPORTATION: Identification of patient by use of I.D. band. Cognizant of patient safety and comfort. Assists CCL staff with patient transport to and from procedures according to hospital policy

  • PATIENT POSITIONING: Available for assistance in Cath Lab procedure rooms. Aware of positional needs.

  • HOUSEKEEPING: Follows hospital policy and procedures, Universal Precautions. Between case cleaning, terminal cleaning. Storage-Handling of: Medical waste, biohazard waste. Clean-up of blood and body fluid spills. Assists in room turnover.

  • INVENTORY SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT, OR & Anesthesia: Maintains adequate level of supplies. Rotates sterile supplies. Stocks anesthesia carts and procedure areas at the end of each day. Swaps out sharps bins and stocks linen as needed. Turns on anesthesia machines & runs QC each AM

  • MESSENGER AND DELIVERY SERVICE: Demonstrates knowledge of blood bank procedure. Delivers records, specimens.

  • QUALITY ASSURANCE: Participates in QA program for Surgical Service. Identifies QA need in the department.

  • STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES: Actively supports the organization's mission, philosophy and strategic plan. Performs other responsibilities assigned by CCL Leadership.


Job Requirements

Required: 

  • Basic Life Support - CPR 

Preferred: 

  • Experience preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
