The posted compensation range of $48.43 - $72.26 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
As a Staff Nurse, you will expertly apply the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) to provide safe, therapeutic care for patients of all ages, aligning with our Mission and Core Values.
Every day you will provide total patient care, assist in managing care administered by other staff, and assume responsibility for your assignments, including relief charge nurse duties as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of nursing principles, effectively collaborate with the healthcare team, and take accountability for patient outcomes.
- ASSESSMENT AND REASSESSMENT: Performs appropriate nursing history and physical assessment upon admission & on an ongoing basis:
- Performs & writes a complete physical assessment & performs frequent vital signs.
- Identifies any problems based on observation techniques.
- Analyzes all data & incorporates into plan of care.
- Compares & correlates data in written record.
- Utilizes standards of care & previous clinical information to anticipate potential patient care problems.
- Identifies individual patient needs.
- Reviews pre-op history, physical examination, medical care plan & documented allied health care (i.e., R.T., X-ray, Social Services).
- Identifies abnormal diagnostic data, records & communicates to appropriate resource.
- PLANNING: In conjunction with the patient & the other operative team members, develops individualized patient plan based on nursing diagnosis.
- Identifies short & long term goals, including discharge planning consistent with established patient care Integrates the medical & nursing plans of care.
- Establishes realistic goals.
- Seeks opportunities to involve the patient and/or significant others in developing the patient care plan.
- Plans patient care with other members of the health team where applicable.
- Revises the initial patient care plan to the changing needs of the patient.
- Assigns appropriate personnel to patients.
- IMPLEMENTATION: Provides direct nursing care based on the plan of care and established priorities:
- Sets priorities & gives nursing care based on the patient's needs.
- If problem is identified, report to appropriate person(s) for resolution of problem.
- Implements the physician care plan as delegated.
- Completes patient discharge criteria & makes appropriate report to nursing unit.
- Delegates & guides aspects of care to appropriate personnel based on level of acuity & individual patient needs.
- EVALUATION: Evaluates & documents the patient/family response to nursing interventions related to the stated goals & the overall effectiveness of the care plan. Revises plan of care based on evaluation:
- Documents accurately & in detail the response of the patient to medical care plan.
- Documents accurately & in detail the response of the patient to nursing interventions.
- Recognizes alterations in physiological & psychosocial status.
- Collaborates with other members of health care team to revise the patient care plan according to changing needs of patient.
- Documents revision of the goals & plan of care to meet the changing needs of the patient.
Job Requirements
Required
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
- One year in Acute Care Hospital PACU
- Registered Nurse: CA RN
- Basic Life Support - CPR
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 Days
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 90 Days
