The posted compensation range of $54.98 - $54.98 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our ER Tech, you will help Emergency Department Nurses and Physicians at Dominican Hospital deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and maintain a well-supplied, organized department so they can ensure efficient and compassionate service during critical times.

Every day you will utilize the AIDET principle to communicate with patients and families, accurately measure and record vital signs, weights, and visual acuity, and perform 12-lead EKGs. You will be expected to safely transport patients to diagnostic exams, assist patients with ADLs, maintain equipment and supplies, and effectively function as a unit coordinator providing clerical support.

To be successful in this role you must possess strong communication skills (including AIDET), knowledge of vital sign ranges, medical terminology, and basic computer skills. You should also have at least one year of previous direct patient care experience in an emergency department or pre-hospital setting, EKG experience, and current BLS-CPR certification and EMT-CA (or NREMT-B) certification.

  • Reports and documents all care rendered to patient, patient/family.
  • Reports and documents all changes in patients conditions including behavior and psychosocial.
  • Utilizes Chain of Command appropriately as needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to measure and record vital signs, including orthostatics. Demonstrates knowledge of vital sign ranges in all ranges and notifies licensed nursing staff of any abnormal vital sign.
  • Demonstrates ability to accurately measure and record weights on all patients in ED.

Job Requirements

Required

  • One year previous direct patient care in an emergency department, ambulance, fire or emergent pre-hospital setting.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR
  • Emergency Medical Technician: CA
  • National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Basic

Preferred

  • EKG experience
