The posted compensation range of $38.60 - $43.82 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

As our Patient Services Tech HIM, you will demonstrate record processing ability, maintaining productivity and quality standards. You will assemble and/or analyze records for deficiencies, including daily surgery and clinic schedules and birth certificate functions. You will also maintain and correct demographic information and unit records in the hospital information system.
Every day you will retrieve, request and prepare charts for all customers, utilizing EHR & PHR health informatics skills. You will process FAX requests by locating health information in appropriate electronic and paper-based systems for release on demand. This includes retrieving and rerouting physician's incomplete records, applying appropriate methods to ensure accuracy and authenticity of health data.
To be successful in this role, you will understand and apply privacy and confidentiality policies to release of information and access by all users requesting PHI. You will demonstrate proficiency in basic computer skills including email, Word, Excel, and Windows operating system. This role requires maintaining current technical knowledge and the ability to generate reports from electronic applications for chart completion and quality control.

- Demonstrates ability to use health data collection tools (Profile, MIDAS and document templates)
- Understands and applies privacy and confidentiality policies to release of information and access by all users requesting PHI.
- Maintains and corrects demographic information and unit records in hospital information system (MS4, Cerner, QuadraMed combining and un-combining). Able to report potential medical identity theft
- Demonstrates proficiency in basic computer skills such as email, Word, Excel, Windows operating system, use of icons and menus, work with more than one application at a time.
Job Requirements
Required
- One (1) year of experience in medical record setting or Equivalent coursework
- Successful completion of coursework in medical terminology; computer proficiency, and Microsoft Office or similar products
Computer literacy with electronic health records.
Electronic Health Record certificate or equivalent education
Preferred
- Bilingual highly desirable preference Spanish
