The posted compensation range of $28.10 - $41.80 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Patient Access Trainer, you will manage administrative duties for the patient intake process within the clinic environment while adhering to established organizational guidelines and front-end operational standards. You will deliver individual and group on-the-job training to new and current support and management staff, helping to expand employee knowledge, strengthen competency, and improve productivity related to Patient Access and front-end workflows. Training may be conducted in classroom, individual, clinical, or webinar settings, with travel throughout FMG clinics to support ongoing operational and training needs.

Every day, you will interact with patients both in person and by phone while facilitating check-in and check-out processes, collecting patient information and payments, validating insurance coverage, scheduling appointments, and processing referrals and authorizations. In addition, you will assess staff competency and performance in Patient Access functions, provide supplemental coaching and training, support onboarding initiatives, and collaborate with clinic leadership to ensure consistent workflows, compliance, and high-quality patient experiences across all clinic locations.

be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, exceptional customer service skills, and a solid understanding of insurance processes, billing practices, medical terminology, and front-end clinic operations. You will also possess the ability to effectively train and mentor staff, adapt training methods to individual learning needs, and promote a seamless, efficient, and patient-centered intake experience while supporting continuous process improvement and employee development.

  • Leads and delivers comprehensive onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training programs for Patient Access and front-end clinic staff, including individual, group, supplemental, and mandatory training sessions tailored to operational and departmental needs.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains training materials, competency assessments, job aids, policies, procedures, workflow documentation, webinars, and instructional resources to ensure training content remains current, compliant, and aligned with best practices.
  • Evaluates employee performance and training effectiveness through assessments, competency reviews, feedback, and follow-up education; creates targeted support plans and customized development strategies to improve staff knowledge, performance, and operational success.
  • Collaborates closely with clinic leadership, management, and staff to identify training gaps, support onboarding initiatives, troubleshoot workflow and process issues, and facilitate continuous learning, staff development, and operational improvement.
  • Supports operational readiness by maintaining float pool coverage, coordinating training schedules and resources, conducting clinic rounding, and providing real-time coaching, guidance, and support to staff across assigned clinics and work sites.
  • Maintains expertise in Federal and State compliance requirements, front-end operations, billing, insurance workflows, and EMR optimization initiatives while contributing to workflow development, process improvement, strategic planning, and Patient Access training standards.

No nights, weekends or organizationally recognized holidays required.


Job Requirements

Required

  • Associates Degree in related field and two years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities. OR an equivalent combination of related education and work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Strongly preferred Surgery Scheduling and Referral training experience.
