The posted compensation range of $26.49 - $42.42 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

As a Behavioral Health Counselor, you will contribute towards the delivery of quality healthcare with a concern for the well-being of those served. You will provide high-quality patient care by performing intake assessment, determining diagnosis, developing and maintaining a treatment plan, concurrent reviews, and discharge planning for patients in the Behavioral Health Program.
Every day, therapy may include individual, family, couples, or group counseling as appropriate, using clinically sound and evidence-based practices as current with state Mental Health laws, regulatory agencies, and policies and standards of care. You will meticulously assess patient needs, develop personalized treatment strategies, and guide patients through their healing journey, ensuring adherence to the highest professional and ethical standards.
To be successful in your role, you will strategically deliver high-quality patient care within the Behavioral Health Program, meticulously performing intake assessments, determining diagnoses, and developing comprehensive, evidence-based treatment plans. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise in providing individual, family, couples, or group counseling, all while ensuring strict compliance with state Mental Health laws, regulatory agencies, and established standards of care to promote the well-being of those served.
- Demonstrates critical thinking in delivery of assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of quality care to meet patient needs.
- Facilitates individual, group and family therapy as well as psycho-educational groups to promote patient emotional, spiritual and psychological health.
- Works with interdisciplinary team to formulate and implement care of patients using insight, limit setting, support, goal setting and other techniques as appropriate.
- Appropriately assess suicide risk.
- Responds to potentially dangerous situations and ensures safety of patients in least restrictive manner.
- Provides clients with appropriate resources and referrals when clinically indicated.
Job Requirements
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field
- One (1) year of direct behavioral clinical experience providing individual, group or family therapy in an inpatient or outpatient setting
- Competence with DSM diagnostic criteria and treatment planning
- Demonstrates clinical and ethical professionalism, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) knowledge and experience, preferred for EAP program positions

- For St. Anthony North Hospital and St. Anthony Hospital only: Current Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
