The posted compensation range of $20.00 - $100.00 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. As our National Internal Traveler Surgical Technician, you will serve as a vital clinical partner, providing expert technical support across our national network of surgical facilities. You will be responsible for the seamless preparation of the operating room and the sterile field, ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are ready for use. By traveling to various locations, you will provide essential continuity of care, supporting the surgical team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered outcomes in diverse environments.
Every day you will contribute to departmental goals by meticulously preparing sterile supplies and performing technical tasks within the sterile field. You will act as an integral part of the surgical team by scrubbing in for procedures, assisting the surgeon with instrumentation, and anticipating the unique needs of each case—whether routine or unexpected—to ensure the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency are maintained throughout the surgical intervention.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, a deep understanding of human anatomy and pathophysiology, and the ability to adapt quickly to different facility protocols and team dynamics. You are a detail-oriented professional who thrives in high-pressure environments, consistently upholding rigorous aseptic practices and collaborating effectively with the Registered Nurse and the broader surgical team to support the patient’s plan of care.
- Prepare the operating room and sterile field with precision, ensuring all equipment is functioning safely and properly prior to the procedure.
- Serve as an expert scrub technician, anticipating surgical needs and responding efficiently to the demands of various surgical specialties.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic and sterile techniques, creating a safe environment for both patients and the surgical team.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology to effectively support complex surgical plans and procedures.
- Provide flexible, high-quality clinical support as an internal traveler, adapting seamlessly to the staffing needs of different national locations.
- Collaborate closely with Registered Nurses and surgeons to ensure all patient care activities are performed according to established department standards.
Job Requirements
Required
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Minimum of five years experience
- Completion of on the job training as a scrub tech or Completion of an accredited medical personnel program such as but not limited to CNA, MA, LPN, EMT I / II
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Provided by AHA
