The posted compensation range of $260,000 - $305,000 /year is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Family Medicine Faculty Physician,you will join Baylor St. Luke's Medical Group to become a foundational member of our brand-new Family Medicine Residency Program team in the heart of Lufkin, Texas. This unique opportunity allows you to educate the next generation of physicians while providing exceptional patient care and helping to build a program from the ground up, affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine.

In this influential dual role, you will maintain an active clinical practice, serving as a role model while providing direct supervision and formal instruction to Family Medicine residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will be instrumental in developing curriculum, fostering resident professional growth, engaging in scholarly activity, and actively contributing to ACGME accreditation, all within a flexible 4.5-day work week that integrates academic and clinical responsibilities.

Every day you will:

  • Maintain an activeclinical practice, seeing approximately 18-22 patients per day, providing comprehensive primary care from newborns to seniors.
  • Provide direct supervision, bedside teaching, and formal instructionto residents in and outpatient setting.
  • Guide residents through clinical rotations,supervising patient care and fostering professional growth.
  • Contribute to thedevelopment and refinement of curriculum, policies, and proceduresfor the new Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based family medicine care andserve as a clinical role model for residents.
  • Engage in and encourage resident participation in quality improvement projects, scholarly pursuits, and research.
  • Actively participate in activities related toACGME accreditationand program development.

To be successful in this role, you will bea Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician with an active or eligible license to practice medicine in Texas. You will possess a profound passion for teaching and mentorship, strong clinical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and a commitment to both academic rigor and compassionate, community-focused patient care within a collaborative environment.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degreefrom an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine.
  • Active or eligible license in the state of Texas.
  • Strong clinical skills with experience in comprehensive primary care, including care for newborns to adults.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in medical education, teaching, and mentorship.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsto effectively interact with residents, patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented academic and clinical environment, contributing to program development and ACGME accreditation.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate careand fostering a positive learning environment.
