Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Physician Fellow, you will participate in a comprehensive medical training program focused on direct patient care within a clinical setting. This role, based at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, offers an invaluable opportunity for physician residents to apply and expand their medical knowledge, directly impacting patient outcomes. You will be an integral part of the Family Practice Residency Program Education Department, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the healthcare community. This position is ideal for those seeking to advance their medical careers and become skilled and compassionate healthcare providers.

Every day, you will engage directly with patients, providing essential medical interventions and support. Your responsibilities will include interacting with patients and their families, ensuring thorough and compassionate care. This involves utilizing your developing expertise to diagnose, treat, and manage various medical conditions. You will operate medical equipment and perform procedures that directly touch patients, contributing to their well-being and recovery. Your daily efforts will be crucial in fulfilling the hospital's mission of delivering high-quality healthcare services.

To be successful in this role:

  • You will need a strong commitment to medical education and patient-centered care.
  • Specific minimum qualifications beyond being a Physician Resident are not detailed; a foundational understanding of medical principles and a drive to continuously learn and develop your clinical skills are paramount.
  • You must be able to follow instructions, analyze data, coordinate tasks effectively, and manage your workload to meet demanding schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team are essential for thriving in this challenging and rewarding fellowship.

Job Requirements

Required: 

  • Doctorate of Medicine required. Completion of ACGME Family Medicine Residency.
  • State of California medical license, DEA license, Board Certification.
  • Must have demonstrated ability as a clinician capable of supervising residents and be actively involved in the care of patients.
  • Devote sufficient time to the residency program to fulfill the administrative and teaching responsibilities inherent in achieving the educational goals of the program.
  • Must have a specific commitment to patient care, maintaining clinical skills, and serving as role models for resident-physicians.
  • MD License
  • Fire Safety Card (CT FIRESAF) must be obtained within 90 days of start date.

Founded in 1955, Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital Medical Center is a 394-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located. Serving over 80,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II Trauma Center, heart care, cancer care and women’s health. It is the only pediatric trauma center in the San Fernando Valley.
