The posted compensation range of $47.41 - $70.52 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. As a Respiratory Therapist Clinical Specialist, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.
Every day you will apply your keen assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations.

- Demonstrates knowledge regarding infant, pediatric and adult pulmonary disease processes and appropriate respiratory care interventions.
- Safely performs arterial puncture for blood gas analysis or laboratory analysis.
- Independently assesses patient learning needs and seeks assistance in identifying/meeting learning needs of patients and families specific to management of chronic pulmonary disorders. Patient family education is to include disease management, proper use of medication and administration devices, oxygen therapy and related equipment.
- Prepares work assignments for on-coming shift and ensures adequate staffing to meet workload demands.
- Oversees function of the blood gas lab, performing required quality control, proficiency testing, and daily maintenance to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all blood gas results.
- Assesses the performance of RCP and provides appropriate direction.
- Provides direction to respiratory staff in complex, high risk situations.
- Functions as a resource for Cardiopulmonary and Nursing personnel and other health care professionals in evaluating the effectiveness of respiratory interventions based physical assessment, blood gas and lab data, and physical assessment.
- Identifies areas that need change and participates in the planning and implementation of change.
Job Requirements
Required
- Graduate of accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Completion of a formal neonatal respiratory therapy course at an approved school of respiratory therapy that includes a didactic and clinical course work
- Completion of a minimum of 20 hours of didactic and four weeks of precepted neonatal clinical experiece in a hospital-based course at a facility with an NICU equivalent to a Regional or community NICU
